Poll: UFA d-man to target. Souray or Stuart

Now, assuming we could either pay a rental price for one (ie. not market value), or convince one to resign for a low enough price to keep Smyth, which d-man would you want?

I am also assuming the price would be fairly similar for both so this is mostly a "which player you prefer on the Oil" poll.

My vote is Souray. Huge bomb from the point and our PP needs more help then Stuart can offer.

Mont is a playoff team and they think they probably have a shot
They wont trade Souray

Ive been watching Bruins since Oct hoping they lose so we could get Stuart

But all things equal, id take Stuart

Stuart without a doubt, he's far better in the defensive zone than Souray. However, I'd rather have both Timonen and Markov over both of them if those two hit the UFA market.

Souray, if only because I keep hearing Stuart wants to go back to California next season. If that is an unfounded rumour, then Stuart is my choice.

Whoever'll resign here is the answer.

I hope for Stuart though.

Wow, along with Blake that is going to be a Leafs level of expense on your top 3. Best of luck with that

I think stuart would be great. He is having a off year, so he would come cheaper. He has grit, plays a oil type style. sourey will get overpaid after this year.

Obviously one of those players would be nice. Now I'm from Edmonton and appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a great city but if you are highly sought after high profile NHL player I really can't believe that Edmonton is anywhere in your list of top places to go.

Stuart would be ideal I think as would Timmonen/Markov/Hannan (although Hannan isn't what we need, I've always been a fan of his). As for Souray he'd be fine for a rental but I wouldn't go near him in the offseason with the kind of contract he's going to be getting

Stuart. We get enough goals scored against us already, Souray letting opponents score highlight reel goals against him sure as hell won't do our team any favors.

He scores a fair amount of goals himself though and has pretty much been Montreal's MVP this year.

Stuart. But i'd rather try grab A.Markov (K.Timonen is gonna get a 6-7 mil /yr contract thrown at him from Philly) if he hits the market. Souray, not mobile enough for my liking.

I voted Stuart, but ideally I would like to see the Oilers go after, if they get the chance, Andre Markov. Markov is clearly the class of the potential free agent defensemen this summer.

I'd rather have Souray, but don't see any reason why Montreal would trade him. That's like Anaheim trading Niedermayer.

I mainly stay Stuart because Souray is too important to the Habs and won't be dealt.
