In all honesty does Laakso project to be a #4 or 5, or is he a step below that?

Not sure, it depends on how he takes his game to the NHL. He's a solid player who doesn't excel in one area.

He had a good showing at the WJC.

What would you guys say about this...

Aaron Miller and Sean Avery

for

Scottie Upshall and Vasicek\Fiddler.

Miller has stayed healthy and exceeded expectations of most Kings fans, he'd likely step into Zanon's place and play a similar role. With low responsibility, I think he can still be effective.

Avery...I know, I hate the guy as much as the rest of you, but how is he different from Tootoo? We'd have the two most hated players in the league, but Avery can actually put the puck in the net and I think he's a better option for the third line than either Fiddler or Vasicek. He's a great forechecker, a decent faceoff guy and he has good wheels.

The Kings get a guy in Upshall who really doesn't seem to have a role in Nashville, but has enough potential and is still young enough that he could pay dividends. Vasicek and Fiddler are both impending free agents that the Kings may be able to use, for whatever purpose they need.

Thoughts from Preds\Kings fans?

I hear Avery isn't liked by his own teammates, so pass. I'd trade both for Miller though.

Where do you hear that from? Never heard anything like that here.

That's a tough one. I wouldn't want to trade Avery within the conference, otherwise I'd probably do it. Vasicek, not Fiddler.

I don't like it from a Kings pov personally. I like Upshall, but can he stay healthy? He's pretty close to bust status nowadays isn't he? Vasicek is huge but he's soft as Stumpel and an impending UFA himself. Kings need young defensemen and centermen.

LA would have to get a Dman in the deal. Seems like Laakso and Klein we're the most avaliable a few weeks ago, not sure if that's changed. Not sure why Nash needs Avery when they already have Tootoo?

Miller+Avery or Armstrong for Klein+2nd or Laakso

Pass on Avery for me. We're deep on the wings as it is and he'd join an already crowded 4th line.

Thing is that Avery can score from the 4th line. During the playoffs, you'd want that kind of a player.

I'd rather get a midgrade playmaking center to complete our 3rd line.

Our chemistry is WAY too good to take a chance on a potential problem guy like
Avery.

Definite pass for me.

Armstrong is your guy, he's cheap, plays hard and is a good locker room guy.

Miller+Army for Klein+

If you're looking for that, then Derek Armstrong is your man. Can play center or wing, plays hard every night, is cheap and is loved in the locker room.

Army for Klein?

EDIT, ha, Elvis already nailed it.

Klein and a third? Or would you have one of our project prospects than the third? A guy like Ryan Maki, or one of our NCAA defensemen(Switzer, Shaeffer)

Ive been impressed with the way Avery has carried himself this season after the walking carnival that he was last season.

But think about our 4th line woes.

From a purely physical standpoint and as far as attitude, you gotta have Hordi, But wouldnt it be nice if we had someone on that line that could actually score a goal or 2?

..you know what, they are painting here where I work, maybe the fumes are getting to me...

I like the value of the above proposal, however to be getting two roster players back, I think we would be looking to be shedding at least one somehow.

I agree, and I think that a stipulation of almost any deal will probably be that Vasicek is included since he's UFA this summer as well and we have to get his salary off the books.

Kings fans, would you be willing to take Vasicek to make the deal happen? who knows, maybe he'll work out better for you than he did for us.

Miller and Army for Klein and Vasicek and a 4th and it'd probably be done.

Alright, you guys e-mail Lombardi, I'll get on Poile, and we'll get this deal done!

Actually, there are numerous trades that were suggested here first that ended up happening, at least on the Preds board. The Sullivan one was notable, Bombardir and Zholtok were both suggested before it happened, Brendan Witt...

Who knows?

can we throw in one of Nichol/Smithson/Fiddler? for no other reason than to keep Trotz for playing them on the 3rd line.

Vasicek is just not good, don't understand why. Maybe LA could put him on a line with Lundmark. Deal sounds fair enough. I get it done before supper.

I'm not a fan of Miller. He used to be a legit top 4 guy, but his play has tailed off. This guy is almost done.

If I'm Poile, I pass.
