I don't really want any of the Kings veterans. Not Conroy or Norstrom. I don't know who they were scouting but I hope the Rangers aren't going to trade for those guys and think the team's problems are solved.
As I said at the Oiler board, I think that the Rangers might've been scouting guys like Conroy, Cammalleri (he can play center, too), Sopel, and Visnovsky.
I'm just wondering about how serious the Rangers are about contending now, because there's a bit of a drop-off going from guys like Visnovsky and Cammalleri, to Sopel and Conroy.

Either way, it should be an intense month.
Well it appears you can scratch Visnovsky off the list for now. Of course some team could come along and make Lombardi a deal he can't refuse, but it's going to take a lot to convince LA to move him since he's under contract for next season with a cap hit of $1.9 mil.
If you want an offensive defenseman LA has Sopel (UFA) or Tverdovsky (1 year left on contract) to offer and if you want a defensive defenseman there's Aaron Miller (UFA) and Mattias Norstrom might or might not be on the block. Garrioch said last week he had a no-trade clause which most Kings fans don't remember ever being reported before.
Anyhow here's an article on Visnovsky's situation.
Well, sometimes where there's smoke there's fire...however, I'm not going to worry about trade scenario's until one actually occurs. Teams' scouting other teams and players at this time of the year (near the deadline) is nothing new. This doesn't mean a trade will go down with the Oilers or Kings.

Oilers? Another TRADE with the Oilers? Ahhh Even our LAST major trade with LA seemed like we were trading with the Oilers.. what was it again? Norstrom, Ferraro, Laperriere, Lafayette and I know we sent them a pick too FOR MCSORLEY, KURRI and Shane Churla. What a horrid deal that was.
Is this the end of Kevin Weekes??? Montoya has been killing it in HFD, maybe Renney is ready to let him backup Henrik?
I would love to see it. Free up some more cap space and add a goaltender who is more then capable at putting up a better save pct (879% sp.) then Weekes has.
unless it was maloney or sather doing the scouting, i don't think i'd lose too much sleep over the rumor. so they had scouts at the game, big deal that happens all the time. at this time of year leading up to the deadline i'd find it more noteworthy if they didn't have scouts at a game.
From the Kings Cammalleri would be an interesting player--don't know what I'd give up for him. Definitely not Montoya. Watched Sopel a bit last year on Long Island. He sucks--a smaller version of Poti.
The Kings have no reason to trade Visnovsky unless a team makes them an offer they can't refuse. He is a signed player for next season and the Kings want to lock him in the summer when they are allowed to sign him to an extension
Quote:
Visnovsky, the subject of several trade rumors, is a "core player" who "we'll look to sign this summer," Ron Hextall, assistant general manager, told fans. He later qualified that by saying, "Well, I would never say never, but it would take a lot."
Visnovsky, whose 37 points rank him in the top five among defensemen in the NHL, was selected to play in the All-Star game Jan. 24. He has one year left on a four-year, $8-million contract

Can't even compare the two, the AHL and NHL are two different worlds. Weekes isn't going anywhere.

GM's and Asst. GM's hardly ever do scouting at other teams arena's when we are not playing that team.
I doubt you will see Sather at a Kings/Oilers game scouting players. It's not something they do.
If the Rangers played the Kings in LA and Sather was on the trip, I could see that, or if Sather was vacationing in LA and took in a game, maybe but for the specific purpose of scouting? I don't think you would see Sather or Maloney doing that.
If the Rangers would get Mike Cammalleri I would personally drive to Glen Sather's office and start to worship him.
This guy is guy, one of the most underrated players in the league, and has terrific hockey sense, not to mention he is a playmaker (19g, 26 and +4 rating on a terrible Kings team).
Anyway, this is just my wishful thinking but damn would I love if we got that guy.
