Perrault has more points this season, a season that began for him in November, than Betts has in his career.

What Betts has to do with the subject? He was, is and will be a 3rd line centre. We are talking about 2C.
Perrault is a painful reminder that NYR do not have what it takes in the front office... I would go after YP at this time, he is a player we need.

HockeyBasedNYC called Perrault a 'glorified Betts', Melrose Jr.'s counter-argument was that Perrault has more points in two months than Betts has in his entire career. That's how he entered the subject. It's not rocket science. Perhaps we need more prophets in our own land

Ahh... I might have replied to the wrong post.
Being good on face off is what any C needs, but it is critical for defensive centre. Nylander is not as dominant on face-off as Betts is, but he is good in other part of the game. Perrault made the entire line work well. That is what we need. If he is good on face-offs, that is an additional benefit. That alone doesn't make Perrualt any similar to Betts. That is why all this Betts thing is completely irrelevant. That's all about rocket science... I'm not getting into prophecy issues with you.

There is no 'all this Betts thing'. Someone made a remark calling YP glorified Betts and it was counter-argued...using the same reasons you specified. You asked what he had to do with it, and that's it right there. No is making it an 'all this Betts thing'. You asked a misinformed question, so I informed you. That's about the all there is to it.

Getting back on topic...I have to believe they are scouting Rachunek, reports have indicated for months that the Oilers are searching for a puck moving defenseman...

I appreciate that. I like Blair Betts and might have been overprotective of the guy.

All defensemen we currently have besides Ward and Girardi are puck movers. Why Rachunek?

You mean as long as Renney is the coach, right? Because Betts is certainly anything but a 3rd line center.
