Anybody read Rodent's latest post?

http://www.hockeyrodent.com

Basically says that trade has been submitted to league for approval.

To Washington: Jamie Lundmark
To Rangers: Jaromir Jagr

Sounds like a steal to me. For whom depends on whether Jagr can regain his form and for how long.

Needless to say, I'm against it. Even if they throw in Maladog.

No offense but his source was a guy quoting a radio station (that does very little with hockey) on a message board. Seems a bit sketchy to me.

And those lines are awful that he proposes.

I'm not a Lundmark fan...but I'd rather see him go for a Mike Comrie type of trade. Jagr is too much a gamble. Yeah, he could regain form. But a young player like Lundmark shouldn't be tossed away for players that comes with a lot of 'coulds' and 'hopefully' attached to him.

I also don't understand trading Lundmark for Jagr because it seems to me that Slats wouldn't have to give up Lundmark in order to get him.

Slats is dumb. He overpays and bidds against himself. Look at the Lindros trade. He did not have to pay that much. He should have waited. I guess since Sather is old, he has no patience. Watch
Sather offer Lundmark. and then since Rangers are only team that can get Jagr, Sather will call McPhee and offer 1st round pick and Tom Poti as part of the deal as well. Sather always bids against himself.

If I was Sather, I would deal Lundmark not for Jagr, but I would not mind getting Mike Comrie. But he is too young.

I don't agree. I think that Sather actually has done a good job not bidding against himself (something that Smith was brutal about at the end).

.

While I don't think that this is the trade that will eventually go down I'm not to concerned with the thought of bringing in the most dangerous offensive player in the game.

Lundmark is a favorite player of mine simply because he represents what i would like for this team to do and that is to go with youth. As a player on the ice he hasn't done enough to warrant that.

I want players on the Rangers who want to be here. Bure wanted to be here and scored 30 goals in 51 games, when properly motivated Jagr can easily get back to the player he was when he got traded from Pittsburgh. Of that I have no doubt.

Has he been less than a professional allowing his situation to hinder his playing ability? I think that he has, but i also think that once he's in a situation where he's happy what you were seeing from him in a Penguins uniform will be duplicated in a Rangers uniform.

Like I said, I'd rater keep Lundmark, but not because of his on ice production, but rather for what he represents and what I hope this team suddenly decides to do.

I really don't see the downside to the Rangers getting Jagr. His best was when he was an upper echelon star in an ensemble cast of stars.

And even if it was Lundmark, you have to give up something. (Unless the deal is Moore, Ortmeyer and a pick.... )

Wouldn`t it make more sense if it was Carter for Jagr?

For the record:

1) I am against the trade and said as much at the bottom of my rant.

2) I wasn't attempting to substantiate the rumor because I did not hear it myself and I said as much in the rant that it came from Henrique. As a matter of fact, if you read what I wrote last night in the Caps area:

http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=32577

... you'd see that I was highly skeptical and couldn't believe it wasn't Carter instead of Lundmark.

3) In my rant, I simply "went with it" and discussed the implications should it be true in time for Tuesday's game against Toronto.

1) What is this, "hit and run"? How, why are they so awful. You suggest something better.

2) You try constructing lines such that Jagr and Kovalev can get 20 minutes per game and still have enough minutes for guys like Petr, Eric, Bobby, etc.

It is not easy, particularly when RUCINSKY-HOLIK-KOVALEV is working and it would be a mistake to break it up.

Let's see what you come up with.

While i don't like the "trade/rumor" i think the Rodents lines would be the way to go.

Relax, I'm not taking shots at you.

I would:

Hlavac-Nedved-Jagr
Rucinsky-Holik-Kovalev
Simon-Lindros-Barnaby
Ortmeyer-Messier-Carter

Do the minutes add up? I don't know. Do they ever?

Your lines were awful. You should relax, just because you cant come up with decent line combinations doesnt mean your a lousy journalist. The fact that the article was also horrid unfortunately does.

In what way were they awful? Do you want to back up your opinion?

As for my journalism skills, nobody is holding a gun to your head to visit. I've got some 1700 daily visitors who keep coming back for more. I'll not lose sleep if it's 1699 from now on.

I did like your article about the Leafs game. A good find with their pk-pp ratio.

Must be "whack-a-squirrel" day eh??!!!

I happen to think he's an excellent journalist, and what he lacks in tact and "thickskinness", he more than makes up for in substance and personality...

As far as articles on the Rangers go, I already hold him in higher standing than every Ranger beatwriter.. Give that furious, furry, freak access to the Rangers like Brooks has, and I'd bet all Ranger fans would start every day with his column..

I'm just not sure the internet would be big enough for the swelling of his head if that happened..

:p
