What's up folks. Figured I'd introduce myself in the game thread. Been a huge Ranger fan since the days of turning the taped together TV dial to channel 9, then adjusting the aluminum foil covered rabbit ears for that perfect, fuzzy picture. Not too happy with this team so far this year but we'll see what happens in the second half.
Go Rangers!
welcome to the show garv!
it's pretty neat that we actually have games in hand (its usually the other way around) I didnt notice that. But what I find intersting is the fact that Malik is leading the team with a +15
on that note, GO RANGERS! Pulling for shanny tonite
Which Jagr will we see tonight? The at times lazy backchecking lazy penalty Jagr, or the solid in all zones Jagr that we saw against Phily. I'm thinking the latter.
Anyone know if this game will be replayed later in the evening on INHD or anywhere else? My DVR isn't set to record the game and I don't think there will be a Rangers in 60 tonight.
I really hope Jags really lives up to his statements and puts this team on his back. Hey maybe if he gets going, Shanny and others will too.
But really they need to beat Boston tonight. They need to get on a winning streak. Boston hasn't been one of the most threatening teams this year. They need to beat teams like Boston if they want to make the playoffs.
Welcome to the big leagues Garv.. Since your still a prospect poster, you'll be relegated to 4th line/AHL duty for a bit.. Once you get older, maybe 30+ years old, you might be able to crack the top line.

Last game was the first time I have ever seen Jagr care about the defensive side of the game.....ever. He is usally indifferent to backchecking and hanging around center ice while the other team has the puck in our zone. Hopefully Renney somehow explained to jagr the importantance of backchecking, and if thats the case then renney should immediatly win coach of the year because no one has been able to accomplish that with jagr throughout his career

I agree that his performance the other nite was one if not the first time that he effectivly back checked through out the entire game. I hope he keeps it up for the rest of the season and into the PO's
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cullen falls at least 13 times.
Somehow, I got railroaded into Thomas as one of my fantasy goalies. Of course, being a Ranger junkie, I sat him.
Speaking of Cullen falling. Does anyone else notice how many times Prucha gets hit a game? I feel like he takes more shots than anyone on the ice. I know he's not a big guy by any means but he gets flat DRILLED every game. And we definitley need a win tonight. We've got enough games against playoff teams the rest of the way we can't afford to lose ones like this. Obviously the powerplay has been the big debate as of late but I'd really like to see Prucha on the first unit. Maybe switch him with Marty or Nylander.

lol, you forgot to mention that he will only be given 3 minutes of icetime alongside of Hollweg and Orr and he better show renney something or else he'll be immediatly sent back down, then the press clipping will read.....
"Garv has a ton of talent and we really like him, we just feel he'd be better served to get more ice time with the Wolfpack, but we defintly see him as being a big part of our future." -Tom Renney

well you said it yourself, the kid gets hit b/c he's small. I play in a roller league, I'm small and I get hit too. Pruch is always in front of the net, and thats where you're gonna get hit the most. The most importnat thing is that he gets up after every hit he takes
Pruch gets hit alot because he's going places most guys his size won't. I give him alot of credit. But I get nervous everytime he gets hit, eventually it'll catchup with him.

Indeed. He hops right up everytime. It's crazy sometimes too because some of the hits he takes are vicious. You'd expect him to have been seriously injured by now. I really like the kid. I don't think last year was a fluke. I just don't understand why he's not playing on the second line or getting more power play time. Our problem this entire year has been scoring outside of the first line. So why are we limiting the ice time of a 2nd year kid who scored 30 goals and had 47 points last year?
Would have loved to see the reaction for Orr back with his original team (he was a fan favorite here) but oh well. I still feel he and Ward are more effective than Hall...but let's go out and win tonight. Same lines...Hank back in...same D...let's do it boys. Let's stick up for each other again. Keep in mind last game Alberts ran a few guys and it was Shanny who had a few words with him in front of the net. GO GET EM

beats me ... I guess because Renney's our coach.
As much as a I respected the guy last year, this year it's completely different. I mean he gives some players the death sentence (Ward, Prucha) and others he gives them immunity (Hossa, Malik, Hall-until recently). I'm not saying that Hossa's a bad player, I respect the fact that he hasn't given up on him, but I just want these guys in their appropriate roles:
Hossa, is at best a 3rd line winger. Betts, is a 3rd/4th line center. Hall is a benchwarmer. Malik is in the wrong sport. Prucha is a legit 2nd line winger (and he proved he can play. He was very solid with Cullen and Orts, but I just dont think he belongs there). And we've all seem to have forgotten about Ward. Last year he was hustling his *** off for us. I don't know what made renney sit him, but one day he's on the 1st line and the next he's in the press box. I'm not even gonna start with Pock not playing.
Renney has to clean up his act. Coaches want consistantcy from their players... the same standardshould apply to themselves.
Rangers will BLOW the Bruins out tonight. Something like 6-2...
Jagr, Shanny, Hollweg, Prucha all looked great vs Flyers (a healthy flyers at that!).. I expect the same tonight & with all the posts hit against the Flyers will go in tonight!
I'm listening to the Rangers pregame and Renney just said that Prucha had one of his best games of the season the other night, but he has played alot of game's similar to that over the season thus far. So that begs the question, why has he seen the 4th line this season, if when given the oporunity he goes out and bust's his butt every shift. Oh well, no use dwelling over the unknowns in life. LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
