Well, fans tend to overrate the market and make the mistake that it is the same as it was last year and it's not. If you traded those same players that were dealt last season at the deadline, you would not get the same return. That's just the way it is. It changes and Weight right now wouldn't be worth a #1 and this will set off the market.

Comrie for Kaigorodov doesn't look as bad for the Coyotes any more, IMO.

Person of Kings persuasion here, and I think we did quite well in the new NHL business model.

Salary dump, Lundmark is a stopgap, neither figure into our future, but two picks certainly do.

Keep it going, Deano.

Funny timing of the trade seeing as how the Flames take on the Kings tomorrow night!

But Comrie's best days aren't behind him and Conroy's are. They're banking on him being able to do what he did before with Iginla but I wouldn't count on it. I'd expect he'll have a few good games at first and then fade off into mediocrity, just like Nedved in Edmonton. Edmonton didn't give up two picks to get Nedved, though.

no, they're not. The Flames top 6 has been the best it's been since the team that won the cup, Conroy's a complimentary player, a defensive center that's a playoff warrior, and that's what his role will be. The Flames have no problems with scoring from the center

Nice asset management there Darryl, you dork.

Let Conroy walk for nothing, ***** about his contract demands;

And then give up a second and fourth just to swallow your pride.

I give the guy credit for seeing his faults on it. Very un-Sutter like.

Exactly, Dean Lombardi has said he wants young guys coming up through the Kings system. Keep the picks coming....I assume the Kings will have lots of those by the end of February!

He does for the Kings down in Manchester, with O'Sully and Push called up the Monarchs are short on forwards. It's a win-win for both teams and the Kings fire sale has begun.

When I initially saw the thread title, I was po'd wondering how could Calgary trade a piece of crap for Conroy. Then I saw the 2 draft picks & the fact Conroy has 1 year left on a contract thats a little large for him, & I was happier (as an Oiler fan).
Still, a reasonably decent deal for Calgary (I'm happy they didnt get Forsberg).

Kings fans wanted Volchenkov or Vermette from the Sens early in the year. I guess he played himself out of having a lot of value.

Don't care what the picks are. Until LA actually does something with them, they're footnotes.

Great move by Calgary. A little surprising, considering that Langkow has really blossomed this year, but you can never have too much depth. Calgary has two really good scoring lines. They have a team that can go goal-for-goal with most in the league, and they still have a strong defensive presence.

Lundmark is junk. He has bounced around the league. Soon he'll bounce out of the league.

Conroy wanted a NTC. Even if Sutter is admitting he made a mistake and is now bringing him back, that doesn't mean the refusing to give him a NTC was a mistake.

You don't grant players of that age a no trade clause.

I disagree here because I feel that Weight is a better player then Conroy. Last year at the deadline, Weight was nearly a point per game player. Conroy has 16 total. He hasn't lived up to expectations this year and that hurts his value.

LA shouldn't get too much of an offensive drop-off with the Conroy-Lundmark switch. Wasn't like Conroy was tearing it up, but the effort was there every night.

I expect Avery will be next to get that 2nd we all want.

Good deal for both teams.

A second rounder in 2008 is like a first rounder this season, and if I'm Lombardi at the 2007 draft , I try to package a second in 2007 and the calgary 2nd pick for a first in 2008 to some team that likes a player that dropped.

let's say a team likes Hamill a lot, and he drops to 34th. LA gives them the 34th pick and another second rounder for a first in 2008.

I'd be thinking the Kings would be pretty strong by 2010 if they could add Stamkos, Doughty and Alzner over the next two drafts LOL.

if I'm Sutter I try to get Gelinas bak - I'm sure he could get him for a song.

Peter Maher (Flames PBP guy... Hall of Famer.. aka he's credible) was on the radio and said that he'd heard that it was conditional.

it's moments like these i wish we could go into the archive. and see the over-value trade-wise, placed on conroy by king's fans. i think someone wanted komisarek, a 1st and roster player for this guy.

lundmark sucks, hopefully the picks are relatively high.
