Anyone know how close we are to the cap? I'd imagine fairly close, as we're going to have to dump some more salary to get another defenseman. Hopefully we can pawn off Zyuzin. After all,we did get rid of Lundmark!

I heard Eric Duhatschek say we were at 41.8 after the Conroy deal but now that McCarty's done for the season that should give us an extra .4 mil to deal with.

Zyuzin hasnt played as badly the last 3 games... maybe his is actually healthy now... besides i dont think any teams will take a chance on him since he has another year left on his contract... best bet is to acquire someone else and have Zyuzin in the pressbox because he is a better option come playoff time than Brad Ference (naturally if ther eis alot of injuries)

I am not sure exactly what it is, what is the rule for salary relief from injured players? The Flames have had some LT injuries this year to a couple guys, but does that reduce there cap number? Or only if the guy is currently injured?

edit: i got a response and you can only replace that salary while the player is on LTIR

According to Eric Francis' column in today's SUN the Flames have a little more than 2 million in cap room left this season. Plenty of room to get a defenseman and unload some of our crap!! So much for the people on the Edmonton board saying we're up against the cap.
