Peter Maher alluded to such on the NHL insider segment with Rob Kerr. He said that the flames would be getting some relief from their current cap commitments.

Wouldn't be a huge suprise. McCarty is a good guy to have around the room, but lets be honest...His contributions on the ice this season was very limited, and his career is defintely on the down-swing.

I feel bad for the guy but he just didn't bring anything to the flames this year. I guess that means his salary is off the books .Conroy's salary is now abit easier to take. There is still room for more deals .

well considering he has been "injured" for how long now and really, nobody has cared...........

.......dont get me wrong, last year i loved the guy, played with as much heart as anyone, and with his off-ice problems and still playing through it, i had that much more respect for him. but this season he has been useless. i feel bad saying this for the guy himself, but for the "calgary flames" mccarty means nothing anymore. its sad, but the truth

i wish the best to him and hope he recovers from his downfalls. and thanks for your efforts darren mccarty
