Drury: Exactly what we need?

With Drury we'd have 3 scoring lines in with line 1 and the COP line. We could give Malik , a pick, and Hossa. We pick up part of Malik's contract to make things more appealing to BUF, which would clear players we don't need as well as cap space for both teams. We bring up solid HTFD players. All of this by deadline= 4/5 playoff position..

any other feasible options at getting drury?

other than your idea that wouldn't return a 2nd round pick, yes.

Wait until the offseason when he is a free agent.

Agreed on both.

Buffalo wouldn't deal him now, anyway. Not unless someone offered a Lindros-esque package.

And why would they? They're the top dogs in the East in most people's eyes.

Why would Drury leave a team who's probably got the best shot at winning the cup this year?

I do that deal even if we don't get Drury, how about a 3rd pick this year.

I tried to float a Drury proposal last season and didn't have much success. I would definitely want the Rangers to be in the mix this offseason, but considering he's a great clutch player and the Sabres are looking to go deep this year, there is NO WAY they trade Drury. But yeah, he'd solve that second line center problem in a hurry.

I REALLY want Drury. But not now. In the summer. We'll say, "Mr. Shanahan. Sorry about last season, here is your new center. Chris "Clutch" Drury. Won't you please resign with us?" And why would Buffalo trade him anyways? They are looking at a really good cup run and they'll need mr. Clutch for that.

As great as it would be...There would be no chance in hell Buffalo would EVER do that.

And the Package of Hossa, Malik, and a pick is Terrible. And i like Hossa. Im sorry guy but i would really Re-think that Proposal if i were you.

They deal their co-captain for the Rangers' equivalent of two broken hockey sticks and a bag of pucks. Plus they deal him to an Eastern Conference team. Plus they screw up Vanek's chemistry?

You're not JOrts masquerading as a second identity are you? I've seen this around other forums...not fun.

If you don't mind me asking where are these rumor's coming from? There's nothing on the Sabres board and nothing in the Buffalo media that I've seen that would even suggest this.

Where are you hearing this? I'm in Buffalo & I've heard no such thing.

In any case, that's a ridiculous proposal.

Agreed, JH. I'm a Rangers fan here and that proposal is SHOCKINGLY bad - one of the most lopsided I've ever seen. Madness, if you can somehow pursuade Buffalo to do that, they should rename Broadway after you.

I know he's a rental, but c'mon - ya gotta give to get, my friend.

He'd solve the problem at center, but no way the Sabres do this, it's insane.

Exactly what BUF will not give up.

Gimme a guy like Drury or Drury and Smyth and this team is set.

How about Immonen, Malik, J. Ward + 2nd round pick for Drury? More enticing?

No. Why would the Sabres want any of those guys? And why would they deal Drury when they're the best team in the East?

I love Drury. And he's my #1 target as a FA this summer. But the Sabres are not trading him for Ranger spare parts.

You guys are right about him being a top UFA target this summer. But Buffalo isn't trading him this year. It's generally accepted that one of Drury or Briere won't be retained by Buffalo this summer, right? Drury is definitely a guy who will get a lot of offers.

I'm reminded of a line that the Timberwolves' GM gave the Knicks many years ago in their first attempt to acquire Marbury: "Sorry, we're not in the waste management business."
