Our Next Second Line Center

Here's the deal:

Make one selection for who you think is most likely to become our next 2nd line center.

If we happen to acquire that player through trade indicate the trade you believe will bring him here. Please keep in mind salary cap implications.

If other please state.

Dubi-Dubi-Doo. Krog sent down/waived/traded to make room.

I think they're going after Drury in the off season and this way they don't plug Drury's spot and in the meantime get an early look at Dubi.

Smolinski

I'm assuming you mean if we make a trade before the deadline (or a decision to use a kid or stand pat).

I have no faith a kid will get the chance so Dubi and Immonen get crossed off. I don't think Sather will trade for a player that isnt a upcoming UFA either.

I'd like to see Doan. We need a physical center who can also score. But not if we give up too much.

I voted "Other" for Brad Boyes. I think a deal for him makes sense for our team. IDK though, I could see it happening but possibly not happening too. The Rangers are a big question mark in deadline deals...I really have no idea what they are going to do.

Jesus, so many bloody others is usually the sign of a bad poll.

Realistically, what does it take to get a Brad Boyes, then? None of this Marcel Hossa, Marek Malik and a 2nd crap. Honest offers. What's your opinion?

Honestly, I think a 3rd could get Boyes in a Rangers uniform. His value is pretty low right now. If not a 3rd for him, then a mid-level prospect and a 4th would get it done.

Is Doan really a center, though? I know he "can" play center, but...?

I voted for Other, I say Mike Modano. I know he is old but he is a playmaker. His value is still pretty high. Imagine Prucha Modano Shanny

I dont think he is on the block but they did take the Captaincy off him. I think if the price is right he can be moved.

Smolinski will likely be the guy....I don't know...Immomen and a pick?

Anyone on that list other the Peter the Great will be dissappointing if he goes elsewhere and lights it up....especially in conference

REALLY!?!? Dallas is going to move the greatest player in franchise history, the face of their team for over a decade, and still one of their best players in a season when they're probably going to the playoffs? REALLY?!?!

I tried to take a look at players on teams that would be looking to either dump them as a result of not needing them or dump them as a result of a deadline fire sale. Florida is playing some decent hockey and I highly doubt they're trading Stumpel at this point.

Been mentioning Smolinski as a possibility for a month or so, so I have to stick with him even if Dubinsky as a place holder before a trade is very possible......But there will truly be quite a number of alternatives...I like the Boyes option, but doubt it could happen...

Two othern names to remember are Cajanek and Tkachuck...Tkachuck takes alot of FOs and can play some center....Just a possibility....

Arnason and Morrison might also be possibilities..

Why is Dubi getting more votes than Immo? Isn't Dubinsky having problems in the AHL nevermind the NHL?

Actually, he started out slowly, but has played well the past month or so. Most of the observers from this board who've watched him recently, have been very impressed, saying that even when he doesn't produce, he's still very impressive. Couple that with a recent Schoenfeld interview on XM radio, where he reportedly said that he expects Callahan and Dubinsky to be called up to NY soon, many people think it's just a matter of time before the Rangers give him a look.

As for Immonen, IMO, it's pretty clear this organization does not see himan answer, either short term or long term, at 2nd line center. Unlike Dubinsky, he's not a raw talent who still needs time to untapped his talents. He came to the US as a more fully developed product. When the organization is more willing to put Jason Krog as the 4th line center, I do think that is a commentary of what they feel about Immonen.

Of the list Smolinsky is the guy who makes the most sense. He's a UFA to be and will not cost what a Doan, Forsberg, Weight, Savard or Modano(?) would.

I hate Roenik and want no part of him. And I'm not sure a guy like Gratton really a great 2nd line center option.

I have not seen enough from Immonen to lead me to believe that he'd be an upgrade. And I am not interested in rushing Dubinsky.

Dubi's getting more votes than Immonen..

because Renney all but said Immonen's career with the Rangers is done. And yes, Dubi has struggled at the AHL level. He's gotten better, but still needs a good deal more time down there.
