How about Alex Henry?

What do you folks think of him - I have only seen him play a few times, but I like what I've seen. He's not a smooth skater, but he can move out there. He seems very good in front of the net as well.

"Very good in front of the net"...like on the Linden goal?

I'm still not very fond of him. And though Lemaire highly praised him (said his play put him in the Wild's top 3) a while back, Henry still earns the ice time of a #6 guy. Travis Roche was even given more PK time per game than Henry.

The biggest problem I have with him is how he seems to get beat wide quite often. He must not realize that just about everyone in the league can skate forward better than he can backward. He has a habit of trying to close someone out along the boards (near the blueline) but all they do is whiz past him.

He has good effort and I like how he sticks up for his teammates, but I really don't see him as a very useful player, especially down the road. He's not mobile enough to penalty kill (where his size can really be an asset) and his skill is lacking (we need d-men who can/do make more than the safe play). I can't say I see him as much of (if any at all) an upgrade over Brown. Lemaire's usage of him within the grand scheme has been appropriate IMO and in that sense he is able to fit in with minimal cost.

When it all comes down to it though, IMO, he's just a stop-gap until Doug can bring in a top 4 (2? I wish) d-man.

But that's just my opinion.

I saw a nice thing on the news last night....

Henry and a few other Wild players were visiting sick kids at a local hospital.

Just thought i'd share that...

Actually Cech, I thought Henry did a pretty good job on Linden; he was all over him and knocking him down. Linden did a smart thing throwing it at the net, and it went in off Rolie's pads - fluke. Thanks for the other comments though - All I can say is that he is much better than I expected, which may say more of my expectations than Henry's abilities.
