Andy Delmore and Andre Deveaux for Kyle Wanvig and Stephen Baby.

I certainly hope this is not the big move DW was looking to do.

I suspect this is a depth move of some sort. Could be a prelude to Leetch getting signed, or could be D depth insurance if the Thrashers end up moving a defenseman for a C.

Of note, apparently Delmore may more than likely stay in the minors as Philadelphia is ready to swipe him off waivers if he is put on recall, so there is a good chance that Delmore won’t come back to bite the Lightning as a member of the Thrashers this season.

Woo hoo...we traded for a Bahamian

Where you were born has *no* bearing on whether you can play.

The NHL had a guy play for a long time and he was from Taiwan....any one guess his name?

Once a year the Thrashers make a "garage sale" type of trade. This is your 2006-07 version.

Conversation might have gone something like, 'We're trying to get rid of two guys who don't play, what do you want to pay for them?' ... 'done.'

Two things on Delmore. First, he's known around these parts as "Any Elmore" Why? No D.

Second, I can still hear Steve Levy of ESPN (one of my faves) calling Delmore's name in utter shock when he scored a clutch goal in the playoffs. "Andy Delmore! (I'll be damned)"

On Deveaux. I saw him play twice with Johnstown this year, once here in Gwinnett and once in Augusta (benediction night). He scored two goals in GWT, that couldn't have hurt him. On one he pulled Turps out of the net and snuck it behind him, and on the other he scored on a rebound. He did very little in Augusta though. He does hit, play on the PK. My problem with him was that he hadn't adapted to the new rule that says you're not allowed to wrap your stick around someone. Often a sign of a bad skater.

On a side note, I found this lovely poutine smiley:

Thrashers win the trade because Deveaux is from the Bahamas.

Oh my.. I hope Mr. Delmore doesn't see NHL time with the Thrashers... He may have some offensive instincts, but zero-defensive...

I kind of want to see what Delmore can contribute on the blueline on the powerplay. He's got a heck of a shot and right now it might be a cheap way to fix what ails the team on the pp.

DW'll pick up a centreman if anything in the next few weeks.

I think this is a move to help out the Wolves. With the loss of Krog and Haydar, Steve Martins, Derek MacKenzie and Brett Sterling are the team's top offensive weapons.

And by the way, Baby sucked. I mean, he was awful in the AHL.
