I do think it is silly that 18 year olds can go to war and vote in the United States yet can't have a beer until 3 years later. But, as long as 18-21 year olds (in the US) are involved in 24% of auto accidents yet only make up 7% of the total drivers on the road, the drinking age isn't going to change.

Never gotten drunk myself, and never had a whole drink until I was 23. Before then, the most I did was sip other people's drinks. Don't feel bad.

UND players T.J. Oshie and Jonathan Toews appeared in Grand Forks Municipal Court on Thursday to face charges of being minors in a local bar.

LOL. if that **** happened in NYC...

Regardless of the stupidity of the 21-year-old age limit, two things:
1. dumb to take their celebration to a public place when their are underage guys on the team. just asking for trouble.
2. i don't think the article says they were or were not drinking, just that they were on licensed premises.

Way to go, dummy. Looks like the B-O-T line is going to get benched.

Hi, I'm Irish Blues ... and I can positively tell you that the amount of alcohol I've ever consumed in my life wouldn't even halfway fill a 12-ounce aluminum can - which should be a pretty strong hint that I've never been buzzed once.

BTW - they were charged with "being underage in a bar", NOT "underage drinking" as some of you apparently are reading this to be. There's been absolutely no evidence to suggest either had been drinking - if there was, they would have been hit with the more severe charge.

I guess you don't know much about College towns and how they love to profit off underage drinkers. Cops sweep the bars almost every night of the week looking for those under 21 to cite and fine. They don't even look to see if there's consumption, just if you're underage and on the premises is enough for a airtight case. This is a major revenue stream for little Grand Forks, and if you think for a minute these guys are going to get off with a lecture, you're wrong. There will be an example made for the other students who think it's a great idea to get a fake ID and hit the taverns. There will be a nice sized fine and they'll get suspended for a week or two and miss anywhere from 2 to 4 games.

Bina may get more time off as he's facing real jail time, just because he can't seem to abide by his earlier probation. I don't think the judge cares one way or the other if he can score a 190 footer shortie or not.

Not the only one. I've never had a drink either. But I don't see what the big deal is if someone who is 18 wants to have a drink every now and then.
