Vancouver Canucks @ Calgary Flames (2/3/07)

A big must win game for the Flames tonight. All I ask for tonight is the same two things I always ask for when we play the Canucks:

1. The Flames winning in regulation.
2. Someone (hopefully Godard) beating the **** out of Matt Cooke.

GO FLAMES GO!

yea Godard at 6-4 and 227 lbs vs. Cooke at 5-10 - and 190 lbs is fair .

The diffference between them is that Cooke can play. Godard - not so much.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that while Nilson might not be a game breaker tonight he'll get a couple scoring chances and likely a goal just by playing with Lombardi. I think a talented and very fast center on that line will help Nilson to become a small contributer on offense (though much bigger than he has been so far) for the rest of the season.

Starting tonight.

Godard's main purpose on this team is not for his playing abilities. It's for his physical presence. And I couldn't care less about the size/weight difference. I just wanna see Cooke taste fist if he tries any of that cheap crap he pulled at the Oilers game.

Call it what you want, but personally I can't stand Cooke. It seems the Canucks always have one player in their team I can't stand. Last year it was Ruutu, this year it's Cooke. And you just know that Cooke will be doing what he can to get under the Flames' skin (which seems to be his role), and should he do just that, I hope to see someone step to him.

EDIT: And don't come over here talking about class. I've read some of the comments made on your Canucks board, which is fine, 'cause there's nothing wrong with some **** talking for the sake of a good rivalry, but it works both ways.

As much as some of us might like to see it, neither Eric Godard or anyone else is likely to "get" Matt Cooke. The Flames as a group are big boys, they can take care of themselves. I'm sure Cooke would gladly take Iginla off the ice for 5 mins though. I hope none of our guys takes the bait.

everyone underestimates the canucks
they will continue to surprise everyone.

how many flame fans had them pegged in 10th or 11th in the west be4 the season started? tons.......
Well season is 2thirds over and the nux are tied for third...
and after they stomp out the flames tonite they be first in the nw

The canucks play better against rivals, 4-3 in regulation vcr

It's comments like that that could make a Flames victory tonight be even sweeter than usual. I can't wait for this game...

It is gonna be some kinda sweet to watch those hongcouver canucks get their ***** handed to them. Iginla, Conroy and Tanguay are gonna make Luongo look like a fool for being between the pipes. My advice save him the embarassment and let him play against Edmonton. Flames will win this game. Final score 5-1 Calgary.

Cooke is 5'11" and 205lbs
Godard is 6'4" and 221 lbs

looks alot closer on paper then godard vs boogard at 6'7" and 270 lbs yet godard still tuned him once and faught to a draw the second time.

Hardly fair when you can see one made the NHL based on his fighting abilites and one on his hardowrk and 2-way play. I'll leave you to figure out which one is which.

I see a real tight game today goalies are going to be awsome but i dont really think your top line will show up today considering we have bieksa and mitchell on them.

We are on a great streak right now picking up points in 15 of 16 we beat you at home already twice i believe. We have beaten the flames 4 in a row im going to say a 3-2 win by nucks but if you guys score first it may be 3-2 flames. Whoever scores first wins.

I know there was a lot of whining about the Blue Jackets running Luongo the other day. Let's just see if the Canucks are concerned about the rules and fair play tonight against Calgary. If memory serves me correctly, goalie running isn't limited to Columbus.

right on. i'm sick and tired of uppity (mostly oilers) fans calling other teams' (mostly nucks) fans classless etc. when in reality it's all just smack talking and happens on all sides.

looking forward to a good one. i say the canucks continue to have the flames number tonight

Are you saying that Vancouver runs Kipper?

Any stats to back that up?

When have the 'Nucks ran Kipper? Aside from Burrows nudging him once (Kipper does his best superman impression and Burrows gets a goal disallowed), the Canucks never run goalies.

They always seem to be accused of it though, like when D. Sedin skates by Roloson (didn't touch him, Sedin was outside the crease) and Roloson shakes his f***ing helmet off and gets a whistle.

Yeah, like they keep stats on non calls.......besides, you just called me a liar on another post and refused to prove your point with stats. Why should anyone take you seriously?

It could very well happen, but also keep in mind that the Canucks are playing a much better and more confident Flames team today than they have in the past 4 meetings. Iginla's absence has resulted in a lot of players stepping their game up, and now that he's back I see the Flames being a much bigger threat from now until the end of the season. The Canucks having won the past 4 straight meetings against the Flames means nothing at this point.

Flames pull this one out in regulation. The canucks go home crying.

On that note i hope the flames come out banging and hitting early.I know we're a little banged up but nothing would be worse then having another episode of last nights game.
