Key Match-Ups

vs.

Richard Zednik and Jeff O'Neill, a pair of hardnosed snipers.

Habs Game Thoughts
  • Joe Juneau has not made the trip to Carolina, so who do you give the third line centre spot to? Begin was impressive last game, but Chad Kilger and Jan Bulis are also possibilities.
  • With a home and home series on the table for Coach Julien, will backup Mathieu Garon grab the start on Friday, in order to give Jose Theodore a rest for Saturday nights rematch?
  • Can Richard Zednik, Michael Ryder, and Saku Koivu continue their success as the team's first line? Between the trio, they have combined for 14 points in their past five games together.
  • Perhaps the most intriguing story of the night will be on the blueline, where Mike Komisarek has surely impressed but has by no means been assured of a roster spot every night. Of the Habs seven defenceman, one will sit. You make the call.
  • Another subplot that will surely grab the attention of the media, is how Mike Ribeiro responds to his benching at the hands of Coach Julien. Citing his bloated shift lengths, coach scratched Ribeiro from the line-up on Tuesday. Have no worries, though, the 23-year-old pivot will be returning to his homestead on the team's second line. What do you expect from Ribeiro?

Who to Watch For

Unless they decide to play Rivet on the 4th line again. I know he doesn't want to be converted into a forward permanently, but he did well there last game, where he actually serves a purpose much more than on defense right now. Until someone on the D squad is traded or their evaluation of Komisarek is comlpeted, I would think he could likely remain a forward for that period.

Bulis - Begin - Dackell
Langdon - Kilger - Rivet

Works for me...

I hope he plays both games against the Canes, but as long as he plays at least one I'll be happy.

I wonder who will start in net? I imagine it will be Garon and then give the start to Theo in Montreal. But who knows, maybe Theo will go and if he's awesome he'll play both games.

A most win

Very important game tonight for the habs, they need to win the majority of the game against second half teams. I hope too, Komisarek will play, he needs to play to learn and to adjust his game to the NHL. Quintal should be scratch tonight to rest him a little bit (2 games in 2 nights). Also, I think they should play Theodore both games, because he's pretty good again Carolina in his career.

So, I predict a 2-1 Habs victory.

Brisebois and Koivu the goals.

I've just heard on the radio that Theo will be in goal tonight.

I predict a Habs victory against the Canes, 3-1. I also think that Ribeiro will play much better and get at least a point, while keeping his presences on the ice short.

15 - 1 Habs because Ribeiro is back. I expect him to have 8-9 points at least.

Yup, I was thinking the same thing, after all the chanting for THE MAN! No wonder the fans were upset, you can't bench a guy who gets 8-9 pts per game!

Carolina has been putting up a lot of shots in the past few games, i'm not sure how that will influence who the Habs put in the net but it certainly is something to look out for. Against Nashville we put up 41 shots tuesday night. If it were up to me, i'd rather see Theo because it would be better to try to get some past him tonight before going into Saturday against him playing hot.

I'm predicting a 3-2 Hurricanes victory. Carolina has been shooting too much lately to not be rewarded.

Too bad Ribs is in a slump... no worries, I'm sure he'll come out of it soon enough.

Good to see ZEDNIK in the lineup. Nice hit on the first shift, #20.

I finally have RDS, so I'm a little more excited about this game. :p

What happened on the fight/coincidental minors? Why no 4-on-4?
