Penguins @ Oilers--Dec 6th, 2003

Well, It's only Thursday, but let's get things going for Saturday.

The Main Event
Ty Conklin vs. MA Fleury

Two great goalies who are getting absolutely no help from the boys infront of them. Both have stood on their heads only to skate off the ice with another Loss.

The Under Card
Oilers are averaging roughly 35-40 shots the last handful of games against some of the league's most defensive teams ie. Colorado, Minnesota vs. A penguin squad with terrible defense and allow 35-40 shots to the most defensive teams in the league.

Two struggling teams will square off at the house that drugs built, Rexall Place. This is a must win game for The Oil, win and get the monkey of the shoulder, lose and change is imminent...

This game has a chance of beeing a 13-9 final just as much as a 0-0 tie. I'm gonna go out on a limb as usual and place my bet somewhere inbetween.

7-4 Edmonton

Bergeron (2), Dvorak (2), Moreau, Oates, Staois.

P.S, Can I get a Sticky.

Are you sure Ty will be starting? I heard that Salo might be ready for Saturday

P.S. He's got new pads too ooooooohhhhhhhh

I'm not gonna predict score on this one I'll just say Oiler's Will Win It's the only thing that really matters right now.

I heard the Salo thing too, if he does, then that just adds to the storyline.

Can we say...

MUST WIN yet?

I think this is the one that we have to pull through in. We need to light the pens up to prove to ourselves we still know how to score.

If Caron and Salo play...

6-2 Oilers

Hemsky (2), Dvorak (2), Oates and Semenov

If Fleury and Conklin/Salo are the tenders...

3-0 Pittsburgh

I don't know if Fleury has his first goose egg in the NHL yet but we have a history of giving rookie goalies a drastic ego boost and this game will follow suit.

If we do lose and score under 3 goals something has GOT TO give!

If Salo starts, then we´ll be back in the old days.

9-8 Penguins....if Conklin starts i´ll say 5-3 Oilers

Any word if Brewer and Isbister will play or are their injuries more serious than is being reported.

What exactly is Brewer's injury? I've seen injury reports of groin strain, pulled groin, stomach pull and pulled groin muscle. Which is it?

Thats why Salo hasn't been playing, he's been working in his new pads. And Fleury does have a shutout by the way, i forget who it was against though.

5-1 Oilers

Shots will be around 50-20 for the Oil.

I'm not guessing scorers cause i never guess right anyway.

ahh not to rain on the parade but the penquins win 3-2 from a pp goal in the third period. doesnt matter if the penquins defense is porous, the oilers forwards could not put a beachball in the net right now. honestly think the slump continues and lowe will be forced to do something. this is the second time this year the team has pulled off this stunt and that is unacceptable. just wait till fleury makes one of those saves and an oilers forward looks upward in frustration.
oh well somethings gotta give.
hear a lot of guys the last couple of games saying it is a must win. to me every game is a must win, whether or not we do is another story.

Beach balls(big and slow moving) are hard to put in the net especially when there is someone there to stop it did you perhaps mean a ping-pong ball(small and bouncy) I think that would make a better analogy?

darn it was the wrong analogy obviously that term is meant to refer to the goaltender. thank you for the correction.

Tis ok, even the best make mistakes every now and then.. Is there any word on whether Brewer, Isbister or Salo will play on Saturday yet?

Someone over at oilfans mentioned that it doesn't look like Brewer and Isbister will play and neither will Salo. The poster mentioned that Salo's timing is off.

5-2 oilers...goals by Torres, Laraque, York, Staios, and Hemsky..Oates will get a assist or 2.....Pens goals by Fata and either Malone or Morozov...dispite letting in 5 goals hte Pens goalie plays outstanding letting the team have a chance but then the pens gets into Pk trouble.

Shutout by Salo tonight, as Morozov the only talented hockey player left on that team is stopped on his break-away atempt. Streak snaps, and the Oilers go on one of their tears. :p

I think we can be pretty confident that Salo won't let any in tonight. Tomorrow, on the other hand...

With any luck, he'll come out on fire. I'd like to see how he plays with defence in front of him, since we didn't get to see much of that before he got hurt.

Sooo...reverse psychology didn't work either, eh? FINE. I'll just predict a 5-1 blowout by our beloved / despised Oilers, with Dvo and Torres potting a pair each. One of these days I am going to be right.

Hey mowzie, you sound positively abuzz so hopefully your excitement will result in some hive fives! That would be: 5 great Oiler Goals, 5 great ten-bell Oiler Goalie saves, 5 thunderous Oiler hits, and 1st of 5 in a row Oiler wins!!!!!

Oilers will once again fire a ton of shots at Fleury...and manage to score three goals.

Oilers will finally have a game where they do not give up a PP goal...not because of their great PK, but because the Penguins have nothing but crappy players.

If Conklin plays, he will have a solid game. 3-0

If Salo plays, his defense will bail him out. 3-1

Smyth and Hemsky will click again, with Smitty scoring his first goal since the dinosaurs died.

If the Oilers can't manage to pull off a win against a bunch of nobodies, then I just might start panicking.
