Good work by the Kings to get a solid prospect like Cliche coming back, he had a pretty good WJC for Canada this year. Makes you think we probably would've overpaid for Avery if we'd gone after him based on the return the Kings got.

Cliche is a great player in his own right.

Seems like way to much to give for a player like Avery. A steal by Lombardi?

Cliche was a checking forward for Canada in the WJHC that usually doesn't equate to big things in the NHL. That said, he got some pieces in return for a guy who almost found himself without a contract a year ago due to his yapper. He should shine on broadway with that personality. To me a nothing deal both ways.

Seems like a pretty fair deal, in Ward the Kings get a guy that can play now but has little value I believe to either them or the Rangers, Cliche has ALRIGHT potential and will probably be a 3rd or 4th liner in this league, and that's what Avery is right now....fair deal. Now my hunch is that either Slats went to Shanahan or Shanny went to Slats about this deal. No matter who went to who, Shanny told Slats to do it because I know when Avery was comming up in Detroit the players raved about him and that he just needed a little leadership to get him going the right way and Shanny probably knows he can be that guy. Good move by the Rangers because they're DESPERATE for grit with some actual hands.

That "TOUCHSTONE" guy got this one right.
I don't know about you guys, but that gives him credibility.

Take a look at his latest trade info. Oilers look like they are ready to overpay.

His post was up before TSN

i think he stole it from here, because the first response is: "Got any thing verifying this? The same thread was just deleted at hfboards for being false. "

and if you lookat the HFboards post people are asking the original poster for a link (so it was on hfboards before tsn)

Cliche hasn't played a game as a professional, so I think it's tough to say what his value is. He's basically like a 2nd round pick until he plays a game.

If the Oilers had made a deal with the Kings it probably would have been for Winchester, Pettersen and a pick.

Regardless he was on them Canada. He did alright. I think he has a higher ceiling then Avery does as far as offensive potential goes.

How many of our checkers didn't even get consideration for the WJC?

steal by the rangers more like it. ward is a 4th liner, and honestly is half the player he was last year. marek would have never played for the rangers as he is going to be asking for the max contract, and while i like cliche, i see him TOPS as a second line player....more likely a 3rd line player, which we have tons of.

so pretty much we robbed them

That was my first thought as well. Too bad he'll have to wear a helmet this time.

The Kings get a solid 3rd/4th liner and Guy Carboneau v2.0 for Avery and some kid.

The Kings win, because they got more then new pucks.
