Hahaha, you just beat me to it.

So, as a springboard question from this, what does this mean for the other goaltenders invited to camp?

It means that the other 4 goaltenders going to camp this week will be playing for one spot....as the backup.

Totally expected, as this makes it even tougher for Fleury to get his bonuses.

It's too bad in a way, I was hoping to see one of the other guys like Deslaurier, Harding etc, to see what they could do.

Deffintly Good News for all parties involved.

Team Canada gets a Great Goaltender to lead them to gold

Fluery gets a break from the Pressures of the NHL while still playing in a situation to develop his young skills

Pittsburgh saves some cash...for now.

I think its more pressure playing for Canada at the World Juniors than it is playing for Pittsburgh. When you play for Canada youre expected to win.

True but the WJC is not the same Skill as the NHL...well I dunno I'd take the Canadian Squad over the Pens but Fluery has gone from the Worst Team in the NHL with the Pressure of his Bonus' possibly seeing him sent down, where as in the Juniors he'll be on one of if not the best team in the Tournament with no Contracts to worry about.

of course playing for Canada will have more preassure then a regular season pens game vs the Canes, but I was talking about the contract issue.

Excellent news for Team Canada's gold medal hopes. I think goaltending was a bit of a question mark, but Fleury definitely improves that situation for us now.

Yeah, now only if Nash, Horton, Staal, etc would get released as well...

What are the chances of any of the other WJC eligible Canadian players being released? Patrice Bergeron has quickly become one of my favourite players, but there's no chance Boston lets him play. He's never played for Canada before anyhow, but would easily be a top player on that club.

Maybe Rick Nash will be released too. Do you think a player 2nd in the NHL in goals has ever gone back to play in the WJC?

It's amazing that he's still eligible.

Imagine a top line of Staal between Nash and either Nathan Horton or PM Bouchard. Records would be set left and right.

That would be nasty.Btw Nash is tie first with fewer games played.

The junior team is better than Pittsburgh. That's sad.

It's one month less in which to get the needed appearances in net, as well as a month missed in which other rookie of the year candidates might pass him by, etc.

I think he meant the Canadian junior team, not Fleury's junior team.

Great news! Russia would not want to pound Canada with bunch of young and untested goalies! Bring on the best!!!! Fleury will be another one who will get the taste of the Russian force twice in a row.

I love the last year game when Canada was up and Fleury started giggling! It was a little bit to early for him.
