Streit on 1st line-***?!

How is a guy who can bearly make it as a last pairing d-man be on the Habs first line? Have things sunk this low...it's like a return to the Houle era

He's been the better player lately out of the usual three on the first line.

Because the guy plays hard and has 3 goals in his last 4 games.

Ever heard of player developement? Streit has been improving all year and it turns out that he plays better at the forward position than on D.

Be honest, when's the last time you watched a habs game?

Anyone notice how many times he has scored five hole? I wonder how many of his 6 goals are scored five hole. I know of atleast 3.

I don't like having Streit on the first line. He's a good player and I'm glad to have him on the team, but he's simply not a first line player. It's fine for a game or two to send a message and reward him for working hard, but it's definitely not a long-term solution.

Like it or not, he's the only guy who DESERVES to be up there now. He's a hard worker and never gives up, hopfully he'll inspire the rest of the team to do the same.

Maybe i'm underrating his recent performance, but I don't think he's first line material, sure maybe he's scored a couple in the last few games but if he's the best we've got the team is in trouble.

well to be honest he DESERVES IT !

he has went from a defensmen on his way to sitting in the press box to one of our better forwards ( crazy as it sounds).

He has worked his a$$ off and has been putting up points
48 games 22 pts .

Sends a message the best playing player gets the icetime .
Not the best PAYED players .

GO STREIT GO

Streit is a great story for the Habs right now, so is Aebischer.

And on that note, how the heck did Saku Koivu make it to the first line? Isn't he just some smallish Finn we recently drafted? Who ever heard of this guy?

To me Striet is the perfect example of a player that was finally given a fair chance to show what he can do and he as made the most out of it and playing some great hockey.Sometimes all a player needs is a fair shot and playing time to show what they can do and Streit as done that this year.He may not be a first line player normally but aside from Plekanec, who is playing great,Streit as been one of the top Habs players for the last few games and deserves everything that is coming is way now.If players like Koivu,Kovalev,Ryder and Higgins played as hard as Streit every night the Habs probably wouldn't have played like crap the last month and a half.

...realistically, if most of our roster was playing up to, or even near its potential, Streit would be nowhere near the first 2 lines. The fact that he is on the 1st line is a combination of:
- The fact that he is a hard worker
- The fact that Carbo wants to show that he will reward hard work, because he doesn't feel that most of the team is working right now

It is sending a message to the lazy players who were on that "so-called" first line before (by the way, we don't have a first line nor a first line center !!!). Move your ass... or else ! Streit might not be a first line winger, but he is working and producing right now. He deserves ice time. When the other guys will wake up and produce, Carbo will make the proper adjustments to his line up.

This is a good point that people clamoring about Samsonov or Perezhogin not getting a fair chance should be reminding themselves of - Streit went from being a 7th D-man (8th once we got Niinimaa and Bouillon got healthy) to playing on the first line, and he didn't do it because Carbo gave him any special treatment - he worked hard every single shift and forced Carbo to keep giving him more and more chances, and responded well every time. He didn't need to be put with Markov to play great on defense and he didn't need to be put with Koivu to play great on offense. Can we say the same for the other two?

Personally I really like Streit: fast, works hard every game, seems to have a lot of heart when he plays which is exactly what the habs need. He actually reminds me of Oleg Petrov a little bit, who use to be my favorite player on the habs.

he clearly deserved it .. but that mean we've a big problem when our best forward is a defenseman.

murray on the 3rd line ? i can't understand that move

he is not even on my "fantasy waived players team".

I love Streit, but who ever said that Koivu's line was the 1st line?
