Craig Rivet Expecting To Leave Town

Team 990 and at the bottom of the article on Samsonov at RDS.ca...are both reporting that Craig Rivet is expecting to get traded either by the deadline or during the summer

As long as we sign Markov and Souray I can live with it.

hehe... cry, probably... play like ____, nah

as long as we keep souray & markov... i'll be happy... if we lose rivet, it'll stink a bit, i like the guy, but we can still replace him (HANNAN!... ya, wishful thinking)

I'd like him to stay here... For the right price.
The thing is that I also expect the brass to do try to sign Alex Emelin next year, who isn't quite far from NHL from what I heard... And would reveal much cheaper.. And would hit, something Craig doesn't do a lot nowadays.

What I don't understand on the RDS article is that they name the "part" of the article that way, yet there's nothing that leads you to believe he wants to leave in his comments.

As much as I'd love if Emelin came over next year, I don't really see it happen.

This is not the type of attitude we need in the dressing room right now.

Well goodbye Craig, thanks for the hard work, wish you luck...

Markov is The Man

Souray is a keeper, but not as important as the russian

RDS journalists are only in the dressing room after the game is done so their attitudes and "predictions" have zero impact.

I agree we have to try to keep Markov and Souray, but if we can get Rivet at a "hometown" discount, I'd rather keep him then try and fail to sign a Kubina because some loser team pays him 5mil. Then we're left with Cote.

If Rivet leaves, there would surely be less reason for me to cheer for the Habs. His emotion is what got me into Montreal as a team in first place (former Devils fan here ).

I heard him speak on th enews, and on Team990, what I heard was, ' I can't let rumours bother me,that's why they call them rumours,I've heard them before, all I can do is to try and play well and help th eteam. ' Pretty well a stock answer but nothing like what we're talking about.

Well....honestly...Rivet has been having his worst year with the Habs IMO. He just isn't playing like he is capable and the fact that we are paying him so much money doesn't make it worthwhile to keep him. I would rather have Niinimaa for the next 4 years...he's a better defencemen and can put the puck in the net too.
I would say that getting rid of Sammy and Rivet, we'll free up some cap room so we can spend a little before the deadline. Maybe we will land Forsberg or someone of that calibre.....heres hoping.
