Role players you would like to see your team acquire?

Most of the trade proposals on the board revolve around current and former All-Stars or top prospects........but which 3rd/4th liners, 5/6 defensemen would you like your team to acquire for a relatively cheap price?

For the Devils.....I'm suddenly on the Mike Sillinger bandwagon. We've been in desperate need for a right handed center ever since we lost Holik and Arnott. And we need a faceoff ace, Sillinger if I recall correctly is usually amongst the league leaders and he's at 58% this year.

We got killed against Anaheim in the Finals in that respect, and I think Madden is our only center above 50% this year. Sillinger is UFA after this season, he makes 1.8 mil (Columbus is paying some portion of that I think). I think Sillinger would cost less in a trade than Craig Conroy, but still fill the holes we have.

For the Kings.....28th on the PK. Eric Messier, currently on Florida. I remember him being a pretty solid PK guy on the Avs. Currently making $800,000 and will be RFA this offseason. Not sure the Panthers would qualify him at $880,000.

On defense, Sean Hill might be a decent rental if Carolina finds itself out of the playoff race. Bob Boughner as well. Sean O'Donnell was a fan favorite before the Kings lost him in the expansion draft, but I'm not sure if the B's are looking to trade him before he becomes UFA and free up some cash for help elsewhere. I want to toss in Lyle Odelein's name despite the barrage of Slowdelein jokes that will ensue.

Depends what you consider a 3rd line checker, or 5th or 6th defenseman......Does Dave Scatchard fall under that category? What about Randy Robitaille? Dare I even say Craig Conroy? What about defensemen like Denis Gauthier, or Chris Therien? There is quite a margin of difference between supposed 3rd line checkers like these, and ones like Kelly Buchburger or Chad Kilger, who can play a role like that, but are relegated to 4th line duty.

I have two for the Blues

Andy Delmore-We need a D-man for the PP

Mike Sillinger would also be a good choice because the Blues need a good faceoff guy.

I'd love to see Colorado acquire Scott Walker, Scott Thornton or Mike Grier.

A third line of...

Konowalchuk - Nikolishin - Walker/Thornton/Grier

...would make me a very happy fan.

Ian Laperierre, Curtis Brown and Ethan Moreau are a few of the best 3rd/4th line guys in the league that I can think of....wouldn't mind seeing Toronto pick up any of them...

My bad, I was implying guys that could be acquired for a mid round pick or a 2nd tier prospect (mostly guys on non-playoff teams that will be UFA this summer). Like Matt Cooke is a good role player, but Vancouver has no motivation to move him at this point. Likewise San Jose with Thornton.

Georges is back, he played alst night against the Pens and got an assist on the game-winner by Horcoff. And by any means, Laraque is not untouchable, just in case any one was wondering .

I'd love to see Ruslan Salei or Vishnevski on the Wings.
For Salei, we offer Dandenault, strait up.

For Vish, we'll offer Dandenault and Jason Wlliams or a fourth round pick.

That's very generous of you, but Anaheim will respectfully decline.

You couldn't get either for Dandenault...he's the Detroit whipping boy along with Deveroux.

how about Vish for Thomas?

I'd like to up this offer. The Canucks would offer Jaroslav Obsut, a pile of dog poo and a 9th round pick for Vishnevski. Fair?

Edit: Obscenity filter bypass word edited out.
