Dupuis averages about 16 minutes per game. Will this be another case of acquiring a guy and play him differently, kind of like Hall, and then we're in the same situation? I dunno...
And you can add Krog and/or Hollweg to that LW situation..Too many left wings, still no real quality at 2nd C, and RW is also lacking a little....

Can't see how another trade or two won't happen...ANd I remain steadfast that HOLLWEG will be gone...

Just thought I'd post that about 2-3 weeks ago I called this trade. Not on the boards, but seeing the Dupuis on the block posts and articles, I told my father that this was going to happen. I said either Hall or J. Ward would go for Dupuis. This is a good trade for us. Dupuis is sort of like a Prucha. Small, but quick, can play both sides, potential to score. Hall was not doing anything for us, and didn't look like he ever would. Even if Dupuis does nothing for us, at the very least it opens up 200K in cap space.

Knowing the Rangers, however, Dupuis will do nothing for us, leave after this year, while Hall will end up becoming a career 2nd line winger in Minnesota.

on the deal itself:

Hall was dead wight here, so there's very little downside.

When in doubt, add speed, and the rangers did that here. At the very least Dupuis should be able to open up the ice a bit. And if he can't then you let him go at the end of the year, no risk.

Sounds like how Hall was described before he got here.

I'm sorry but unless you have a link or some sort of written proof (note from father that is, in fact, notorized ..which swears you called it ) Then I am going to have to say I don't believe it!!

who on the fan reported this? strange to hear any discussion of hockey on WFAN, much less any sort of 'inside' information. I'm kinda suprised that anyone at 660 knows who Nathan Horton is.

I am loving this trade!
Adam Hall, you tried hard but just couldn't cut it in New York. Dupuis isn't great, but he has a lot of talent. He has more raw talent than Hall does and I really think he's a better all around player. I've seen quite a few Wild games this year and like Dupuis...Hopefully this works. Oh and Sather, please keep true to your word and don't trade the youth...

So we trade for a French Canadian four days after we acquire Sean Avery. That makes alot of sense.

Edit: I could've sworn is name was Steve Avery...

I like this trade too.

Dupuis had a falling out it with Lemaire. Earlier in the season, during a lackluster practice, Lemaire told the players - if you don't want to practice, you can leave! Well, dupuis immediately left. After that, all you could hear about was how he was on the block.

At the very least, he doesn't work out, we don't sign him, and Hall's salary is off the books.

Seems he plays with alot more energy than Hall which is a good thing for the Rangers.

The Wild seem like they were frustrated because he couldn bury his chances, but liek i said before, at least he has chances and creates some himself, unlike Hall and Ward who rarely got to the net. As long as hes responsible defensively, which he probably is to a degree because hes a penalty killer, i see an upgrade here. The question is how will he be used and will he get the time he got in Minn.

Not a huge upgrade by any means.

But the Rangers are better with him than Hall. Hall just blew this year. Good luck to him in Minn.
He is a better skater, and has more hockey sense than Ward, so I'd say he does more than just make up for his loss.

I read in Weinman's blog a few days ago,Sean Avery's locker was not far from Kevin Weekes locker. They need to put Pascal Dupuis and Weekes right between Avery.MSG needs summer programming.A new reality show

Dupuis pros:

-Brings speed and effort every night
-Almost certainly will improve your 17th-ranked PK
-Has a very hard slapshot
-Plays any forward position

Dupuis minuses:

-Will usually settle on shooting 60ft slappers well wide instead of trying to get a better chance
-Is not a setup man by any means
-Doesn't have the physical skills to get any better than he is now
-Had some run-ins with the coaches this year

I'm not sad to see him go.

Wild beat writer Mike Russo Minny Star Tribune who used to cover the Panthers for the Sun Sentinel

Quote:
Hall, 26, who stands 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, scored a career-high 16 goals in 2002-03 for Nashville and is known as a player that will do the dirty work on the third- and fourth lines

Quote:
There is no secret the Wild didnít like Dupuisí attitude. He wrote his own fate when he took Jacques Lemaire up on his offer in December to leave a practice if any players didnít feel like practicing. Heís been playing the fourth line since.

This is a talented hockey player though, who will bring speed and penalty killing to the Rangers

- Ward + Avery
- Hall + Dupuis

all in all I am quite pleased with the "addition by subtraction"

both moves are upgrades IMO.

Where does Dupius fit? He can play both wings which is good.

Hossa-Straka-Jagr
Avery-Nylander-Shanahan
Prucha-Cullen-Ortmeyer/Dupuis
Hollweg-Betts-Dupuis/Ortmeyer
