Playoffs

Hello Habs fans
I am here to share some info that i found on the oiler board.
To almost gurantee your self a spot in the playoffs the magic number seems to be 95 points. And this chart displays how well your team needs to play for the stretch run of the playoffs. As you can see those hated Leafs need to go 17-9 to end the year to get 95 points , so that is good news for all you leaf haters out there

Eastern Conference

Buffalo - 8-17-1
New Jersey - 10-16-1
Atlanta - 13-12-0
Pittsburgh - 15-13-0
Montreal - 15-10-1
Ottawa - 15-11-0
Tampa Bay - 16-9-1
Carolina - 16-9-0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toronto - 17-9-1
N.Y. Islanders - 18-9-0
N.Y. Rangers - 19-8-0
Boston - 21-7-1
Washington - 20-5-1
Florida - 22-4-0
Philadelphia - Eliminated (max 90)

15-10-1 is makeable...I would like 98-100pts but this slump has just made things almost impossible to do.

Meh. One offensive outburst or a big 60 minute game and the Habs are right back in the hunt for 4th place.

Also, that 95 point idea could be thrown out the window with the playoff race so tight this year teams' point totals are being stretched out.

I think the thing is that the team has not looked all that good over the past 6 weeks or so, with most of the team struggling individually. Personally I feel if Huet can't get back on track then we are in trouble, just like if our 1st line and others don't find a way to break out of their scoring slump, we are in major trouble.

Yes we are right in the thick of things and if we could string together a nice little winning streak perhaps it would be a sign of a turnaround cause who cares if we make the playoffs if we continue to play this way, the low scoring, lazy penalties, lack of intensity, Huet shaky, etc... cause we surely wouldn't last long.

What I think scares Hab fans is that in order to miss the playoffs, it's likely that one of the leafs, NYI or ranger would be the team to do it, and I shudder to think what would happen if the leafs knocked us out of a playoff spot (not that it would be their fault) but boy would it be a very long summer.

That said if we can turn things around before its too late, I still hold out hope that we will end up between 4th and 6th.

I guarantee the Habs will finish higher than the Leafs and the Isles.

I don't think I could deal with Toronto finishing higher then us, especially if they made the playoffs and we didn't.

You've dealt with it for the most of the last decade... You will survive if it happens although we'd all go if it was to happen.

I endorse this system and this projection of what we need to do to make the playoffs!
