Whenever mention of attracting free agents is made it deteriorates into discussions of where players, families, want to live etc.
I've seen little so far acknowledging that players in big diversified markets have perhaps more access to advertizing revenue, income opportunities outside of hockey, etc.
One would think with our booming economy there would be revenue to be had but on second thought athletes here don't always feature prominently in non hockey business. Perhaps because in Oil and gas sector there is no specific value, or benefit, in retaining their services.
Conversely an area where pr or headoffices, marketing, are predominant may offer free agents much more non hockey revenue benefit.
