Unfortunate. Yes.

"Dirty"?

(Who are these people, with their feather-soft concept of our game? )

Hopefully Newbury's alright. Hate to see a kid carted off on a stretcher like that.

but it was when he switched to his left that Newbury went down.

That's what I thought. It's that left that set him up good, seems like Newbury wasn't expecting it.

I had no idea Petro could throw punches like that. Here's hoping Newbury's alright.

I didnt like it how the whole time he was looking at his knuckles for cracks.. but when Newbury was escorted out he was showing some empathy.. I liked that

Those are the kind of fights that will eventually cause the anti-fighting people to win.

I enjoy fights, but its never good when people have potentially career ending, life altering injuries a la Kypreos.

Petro's a good dude, but he probably was making sure his hand wasn't broken. Hitting people in the head is a great way to break your fingers, as Chara found out. I don't think he was doing it to be a jerk or to taunt.

It looked like discomfort and definitely not taunting.

It certainly wasn't dirty. Newbury just ate a couple bombs and may have hit his head on the ice.

He probably didn't know he was on camera, and honestly, what else could he do from the penalty box? It looked kinda bad, but I think it was meaningless.

His stick taps as Newbury left definitely merit positive mention though.

When watching the Fox replay in slo-mo several times, it looked like one of the final punches knocked him out.

Hope he is ok.

I hate to use something like this as an example, because i do hope he's ok, but im kinda hoping that other teams will figure out that this is what you will face if you go after Crosby. Not just Petro but Ruutu as well.

(i know the fight was because he took a hit on petro before that)

Don't forget Ruutu!

A very good way to get knocked out is to get hit with a punch you didn't see coming, which looked to be the case here. He was out before he hit the ice. It sounds like he'll be ok though; I certainly hope he will.

It was a fantastic game though, other than that.

I am not afraid to say it at all. I do not want to see anyone hurt, but I certainly hope that those who want to take liberties with some of our skill players think twice. We have some nasty players who will within the rules make other teams hopefully think twice about taking runs at our skill players, a concern expressed in many articles just this past week. And I for one have no problem with having nasty players who make teams think twice. I applaud that actually.

Wasn't it Shero's "#1" priority last week to get somebody to protect Sidney?

I never said i was afraid to say it, and i do like when the other team feels pain. Its a game of risk, and he signed up to play.

By that logic hitting should be banned. I've seen way more players get knocked out from a big hit than a fight.

Here's to a quick recovery for Newbury. He took some solid shots there, and then slammed his head on the ice to make it worse. Petrovicky gets respect for tapping his stick against the glass for Newbury, I'm sure he wasn't feeling that good about doing that to him. It'll be interesting to see how Newbury responds once he gets back on the ice.
