Man, I see what you are doing with that prediction........A craving for pain and misery that we are all used to.....Predicting that the Rangers catch fire before the deadline so Sather will realize that yes, we need to trade for a veteran 2nd C and D-man...We then give up some picks and prospects for them but then fall on our face the rest of the season despite the aquisitions ...and fail to make the POs by about 4 points..

What do you think, the Rangers are gonna be last years Devils or something? Wouldnt that be something. Coming back from the dead and nipping them out of the Division Crown in the last game.

Yeah... we can always dream

10-18

We are something like 7-15 in the last 22 which goes back to mid-December. I think we'll keep that pace up. The desire is gone, you can see it in the play. The have no faith in themselves and no confidence... which leads me to believe the current trend in the record will parallel the current trend on the ice.

Nostradamus - The New York City

Century 1, Quatrain 24
The new city contemplating a condemnation,
The bird of prey offers itself to the heavens.
After victory pardon to the captives,
The Pittsburgh Penguines will have suffered great evils.

Century 1, Quatrain 87
Earth-shaking fire from the center of the earth.
Will cause the towers around the New City to shake,
Two great pucks for a long time will make war,
And then The New Jersey Devils will color a new river red.

Century 6, Quatrain 97
At forty-five degrees, the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the great new city,
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Century 9, Quatrain 92
The king will want to enter the new city,
Through its enemies they will come to subdue it
Captives liberated to speak and act falsely,
King to be outside, he will keep far from the enemy (The Long Island Fishsticks).

Century 10, Quatrain 49
Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains,
It will be seized and plunged into the Void,
Drinking by force the waters poisoned by sulfur (and Tom Renneys coaching).

However
An 18-10 record is reached like this:

Feb 9 TB Win
Feb 10 @WAS Win
Feb 15 @CAR Loss
Feb 17 PHI Win
Feb 18 CHI Win
Feb 20 @NJ Loss
Feb 22 NJ Loss
Feb 24 CLB Win
Feb 27 MON Loss
Mar 1 PIT Win
Mar 3 STL Win
Mar 5 NYI Win
Mar 8 @NYI Loss
Mar 10 @PIT Loss
Mar 11 CAR Win
Mar 13 OTT Win
Mar 16 @ATL Loss
Mar 17 BOS Win
Mar 19 PIT Win
Mar 21 PHI Loss
Mar 24 @BOS Win
Mar 25 @NYI Win
Mar 27 @MON Loss
Mar 31 @PHI Win
Apr 1 TOR Win
Apr 3 @NYI Loss
Apr 5 MON Win
Apr 7 @PIT Win

The quality of the teams we meet are actually not so good in the final 28 games. At least not unbeatable. A 10 - 8 record against teams above us in the standings and beating the teams below us (8-0 - which, of course, will not happen) would do it.
Remember - no Buffalo games left or against better teams in the west. More home games (where we have **cked) than away games left too. But this reaks of ancient prophecy jinx.
You gotta start chalking up win streaks at home regardless if the playoffs are to become an option.

New Jersey - 2 games remaining - 1 home 1 away - 2 losses
Atlanta - 1 game remaining - 1 away - 1 loss
Montreal - 3 games remaining - 2 home 1 away - 1 win 2 losses
Pittsburgh - 4 games remaining - 2 home 2 away - 2 wins 2 losses
Carolina - 2 games remaining - 1 home 1 away - 1 win 1 loss
NY Isles - 4 games remaining - 1 home 3 away - 2 wins 2 losses
Tampa Bay - 1 game remaining - 1 home - 1 win
Toronto - 1 game remaining - 1 home - 1 win

Boston - 2 games remaining -2 home - 2 wins
Washington - 1 game remaining - 1 away - 1 win
St Louis - 1 game remaining - 1 home - 1 win
Columbus - 1 game remaining - 1 home - 1 win
Chicago - 1 game remaining - 1 home - 1 win
Philadelphia - 2 games remaining -1 home 1 away - 2 wins

But my powers seem to be gone
Wait

The Antichrist (Bettman) very soon annihilates the league,
Twenty-seven years the blood of his war will last.
The unbelievers are dead, captive, exiled;
With blood, human bodies, water and red hail covering the earth

Ooops

He is the holy sacred bearded one. Called it. I add - by more losses (to Toronto). Other teams qualifying are Buffalo, New Jersey, Atlanta, Ottawa, Carolina, Tampa and Pittsburgh. Montreal totally chokes.

I think we go 5-3 until the trade dead line and

13-7 after that, so total, 18-10

The Team claims that it needs 92 points to make the playoffs... My guess is that we finish with 82 points... so my prediction:

12 - 13 - 3 over the next 28 games

37 - 37 - 8 overall

It's been a mediocre season and it will finish the same way... hopefully we make some moves that will bring us back with a better record next year

I would like to join you in your dimension where the AllStar game is after 8 more games. In this dimension - it was alas several weeks ago (very bad record since then )

I'm guessing....

they'll win a few, and they'll lose a few.

You cannot predict this team. It's players are inconsistent, the coaching is all over the place, and noone really knows what the GM's going to do.

That was my gut...

my gut is this team is too unpredictable and you never know which team will show up and never know what Sather's going to do. Wasn't trying to be cute or mock the thread; sorry if it came across that way.
