Hockey-Tonk - SI Article on Preds

I wasn't sure if you guys had seen this, but it was a nice story. I really liked the part about a mom and her son taking in a Preds game as their new bonding thing. Enjoy.

Thanks for the article. I really do wish most of the Nashville bashers would experience the hockey on a grassroots level before condemning the city to death. If you told me that it is the fastest growing city (hockey-wise) in North America, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. But true market development in a city of a million people just does not occur overnight. Unfortunately, it takes a few decades for the youth (who are the most impressionable) to cycle through the population to the point where they can purchase tickets.

I think Nashville, as a franchise, has approached it the right way. Instead of trying to start off with a bang and attempting to compete right off the bat (see Florida/Columbus), they went with the slow and steady approach. This way, they didn't create a level of excitement in the early years (see Panthers cup run) only to be unable to sustain it due to the approach (see Panthers over the past decade).
