He's still a Kladno player and he's been playing for their junior team (Czech Jr League, 25 games, 22 points) and also he's been playing on loan at Benátky nad
Jizerou (Czech 3rd Division, 7 games, 3 points) and Kadan (Czech 2nd Division,
6 games, 1 point). He has also played one game at the Czech Extraleague (=1st
Division (the highest level of competition)).
I don't follow these lower leagues, but the fact that he is 18 and still playing at
juniors and a rather obscure amateur league makes his chances to become an NHLer
some day in the future really slim in my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong, he looked like
a talented defenceman last year. It had to be a terrible disappointment for him to take a long journey to Vancouver and not to be drafted there eventually, especially when he was considered to be a 2nd round lock. It has affected his play possibly,
on the other hand, I really haven't seen him this year, so it's just a pure speculation
Out of curiosity is Lucas Havel playing in any European elite league? While I never had any dillusions of him playing in the NHL my son and I were big fans of his play when he was here in the OHL playing for the Brampton Battalion. I hope he's been enjoying a good career in Europe.
He looked good a couple of years ago at Litvínov and even made it to the national
team for a few games. Then he moved to Slavia Prague where his numbers dropped
considerably (he used to be mainly used as a 3rd/4th line player if I remember
Currently he's playing with 2nd division Havlíčkův Brod (23 points in 24 games).
