Chris Neil

I am a Pens fan. I think Chris Neil would be a perfect acquistion for the Pens. If you put Neil on Crosby's line, Neil becomes the new Rick Tocchet, IMO.

Has there been any rumblings about Neil being on the block? What do you think it would take for the Pens to pry Chris Neil from the Sens?

It's funny because this is (sort of) being discussed in one of the Emery suspension threads. They were talking about how Neil was very sought after, namely by Pittsburgh.

That said, I doubt Neil is available - we'll need him going in to the playoffs seeing as he has enough talent to skate on most of the Sens lines but still enforce, throw hits and generally be a pain in the ass. These are things that guys like McGrattan just doesn't do as well and which makes Neil necessary for our playoff run.

Huh? Sought after by Pittsburgh fans on message boards etc. or are there actual rumors of the Penguins seeking to trade for him?

Ha, you must be kidding. The Pens would do that in a heartbeat. Ryan Malone is a lazy, pedestrian third liner (they just moved him off the first line). Malone couldn't score on Crosby's line. Chris Neil is worth way more than that.

That'd be a terrible deal for Ottawa.

Neil's one of the better players in the league at his role, and has a good contract. He's worth more to Ottawa than any sane team would give up for him.

No.

Ottawa isn't trading Neil and especially not for Ryan Malone.

Ottawa and Pittsburgh don't make good trading parters, AND there's a possiblility we'll meet in the first round. Therefore, there wont be any trades between our 2 squads.

Malone is a pretty lazy player, we don't want him.

Frankly, I don't think Malone would fit in Ottawa at all. If Ottawa was forced to take him, I suppose he'd play over Schubert, but that wouldn't be a given. And Schubert would be about the only player he'd play ahead of--including Schaefer.

Neil is worth waaaay more than Malone....

Anyway, does anyone agree that if the Pens could ever get Neil, he could be the next Rick Tocchet playing next to Crosby?

I post on a few Pens message boards and Chris Neil is one of the most sought after player amongst Pens fans. No real rumors, just wishful thinking. A legit HW to play alongside Sid.....

Malone is a 20+ goal scorer, and he doesnt even play on the top lines for the most part!! if he becomes a legitimate top 6 forward he would be scoring 30+ and 70+ points a season ...
