Yeah but who are their other options if they scratch him?

Also, anyone know if Budaj starting for the Avs tonight?

2007 NHL TRADE DEADLINE BUZZ
NO WAY, JOSE? Does any NHL team want struggling Colorado Avalanche netminder Jose Theodore? In all likelihood, Avs GM Francois Giguere will try to find out before the February 27 NHL trade deadline.

Theodore, who has lost his starting job to Slovakian 'tender Peter Budaj this season, was dealt from Montreal to Colorado just prior to last year's deadline in exchange for fellow goalkeeper David Aebischer.

Thus far in 2006-07, Budaj (24 GP, 10-9-3, 2.90 GAA, .909 Sv%) has badly outplayed the more expensive Theodore (27 GP, 10-12-1, 3.30 GAA, .892 Sv%). Since he will have a $5.3 million salary-cap hit again next season, Theodore won't be easy to trade this time around. As a result, there's a chance Giguere may have to deal another player in any move involving the 30-year-old Theodore. Don't look for the Avs to deal captain Joe Sakic, despite his pending unrestricted free agent status. However, Finnish defenseman Ossi Vaananen--a healthy scratch against Dallas last Sunday--is one of several Colorado players who may wind up in another uniform in the next two weeks.

Other potential unrestricted free agents include versatile forwards Tyler Arnason and Brett McLean, veteran defenseman Ken Klee and veteran fourth liner Brad May. As for forwards Pierre Turgeon, Mark Rycroft and Ben Guite, as well as veteran defenseman Patrice Brisebois (IR--back surgery), they don't have value.
Noticed they omitted Svatos' name[because he has value], even though he was a healthy scratch last night.

Hell, I'd grab Vaananen too if possible.

Thomas, Murray, Mara (8 mill)
for
Theodore, Svatos, Vaananen, 1st in 07 or 08 (7.5ish mill)

Any idea why he was scratched? If it's not for a trade, I'm completely puzzled.

I know he's struggled this season, so maybe the coach is trying to send him a message. But Colorado is still in the hunt and a struggling Svatos has got to be better than (our old friend) Ben Guite, Brad Richardson and Brad May anyday. That would be equivalent to Lewis scratching Boyes in favour of Chistov, Tenkrat or Hoggan.

Something is amiss in Colorado. I gotta think Svatos is being moved soon.

Great let's just keep chasing our tail which is what you do when you make boneheaded trades you propose. Get your head out of your butt and come up with something usefull. Theodore would blow up their salary structure, I'd rather have Zhamnov on the team than Theodore.

HAHAHA, you're so right..... all this would of been prevented/solved if Raycroft was still here and posting his usual 40-10-10 record with sub 2.00GAA and .950SPCTs.
You win the internets, **********.

I got this from TSN:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=10460&hubname=

"Marek Svatos was a healthy scratch on Thursday. It was the second game in a row that Svatos found himself in the press box. Brad May took Svatos' place on the second line with Paul Stastny and Milan Hedjuk and had two assists in his seasonal debut. - Denver Post"

I was thinking what about Sturm for Svatos?

Sturm and a conditional pick for Svatos would be pretty sweet.

What about Boyes for Svatos? The only problem with that is Svatos will most likely go for arbitration and get $3 mil or some rediculous amount that Bruins can't afford.

I'd rather keep Boyes and there's no way Svatos would get 3M in arbitration, 1.5M max.

About arbitration, you never know. They can give whatever they want and the Bruins will have no say.

I just posted that because maybe both players need a change of scenery. Neither is playing to the potential they had last year. Especially Boyes. Svatos was injured and sidelined last year and that could be a factor this season, we don't know for sure. But you're right. I just thought about the position issue, since Boyes no longer plays winger, we'd need to fill that center spot should he be moved.
