Bergeron HURT?!

Anyone have any input on Bergy? BostonBruins.com says "lower body injury" but that's because they are taking a page out of Belichik's book of injury reporting.

Anyone?

Bruins center Patrice Bergeron suffered a "lower-body injury" during the first period tonight. He toughed it out for a session, but didn't play in the third stanza.

Head coach Dave Lewis said he'd know more about the alternate captain's status tomorrow.

Will just have to find out tommorow hopefully it is nothing major.

i dont recall much happening with him that would hint at injury, but maybe he did something to a leg when he had a problem with his skate. i believe that was right after a shift.

at least "lower-body" suggests he didn't hurt his shoulder again...phew.

“It’s a lower-body injury, but I’m not sure which one,” he said with a slight smirk

Bergeron in todays herald.

He got smoked by Jason Smith pretty good on the PP. Maybe that's where it happened?

I remember that hit and thinking it looked like it hurt. I don't remember how much he played after that though, I wasn't really focusing on him.

When he didn't come out, how many of us thought "traded"? I know I did until, and for a little while after, they announced the injury.

God I hope he is injured. Maybe that will explain why he has been on the ice for TWO even strength goals since December 19.....25 games.

This team cannot contend with its top players failing offensively like that at even strength. Incidentally, that is the fewest of any Bruin forward.

Bergeron is a good player, but I would think that even his staunchest supporters would have to agree that for a guy of his calibre, being on the ice for 2 ES goals in 25 games is 150% unacceptable. If this were Thornton, Forsberg, Selanne, Sakic, Jagr, Rolston, Knuble, Nylander, Doan, Comrie (you get the point), we would be calling them horrible, overrated and incredibally underachieving and letting their teams down.

Man am I going to miss Sturm's expressions when he scores. I think it was acr who last year used an avatar of Sturm playing ping pong against a kid at the Wives Carnival, with that same look on his face. Priceless.

I believe that insider guy who said Patrice was playing through a hip injury, but I thought it was getting better because he seems to have picked up the physical play and speed a bit. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

No one was complaining about Bergeron last year...and he's on pace to have MORE points this year than last.

This is his 3rd NHL season, and his 4th professional season. By now he needs to be a guy who puts up offense in all situations.

Age is a crutch used by Thorntons fans...and I see its a crutch that Bergeron fans will use for 4 more years as well.

You guys would say the same thing about Crosby as well....call him overrated.

he was more consistent. He had the one 15 game stretch or so in which he put up 1 or 2 points, but other than that he scored at ES with more consistency.

Didn't you state that Bergeron is destined to be a third line player?

The guy's had inconsistent line mates all year, he can't do everything by himself.

He's got 54 points in 55 games, he's the last player I'd be attacking at this point.

funny, but thats what thornton got bashed for, he couldnt do it all himself, but all the while making first line goal scores out of guys like Mike Knuble....

he got no slack, why does Bergeron get so much?

Well he's still kind of playing at almost a point-per-game level (.982 ppg), so a little disappointing that he's not scoring more at even strength? Yea, a little.
21 year old having a ppg season as overrated, underachieving and letting his team down? No, not so much.

The argument's a red herring. Thornton has nothing to do with my comments.

If it makes you people happy to invent a reason to bash Bergeron, be my guest.
