Each Clear Day roster consists of a maximum of 22 players. According to AHL by-laws, only those players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the 2006-07 AHL regular season and in the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts, only after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.
Marc Staal,Michael Sauer,Tom Pyatt,Brodie Dupont,Ryan Russell,Dayln Flatt,Trevor Koverko could join Hartford after their CHL teams are finished playing. The CHL regular season ends in two weeks and playoffs begin right after that weekend.Darin Olver could be available next week if Northern Michigan doesn't make the 2nd round of the CCHA tourny.NMU is playing OSU and the winner plays Michigan next week.BU will make the NCAA's so Kenny Roche might not be available for a couple of more weeks.Bobby Sanguinetti could sign an ATO and play for Hartford
Staal and Sauer already have signed NHL contracts.Sauer might not be available for a while since Medicine Hat is one of the best teams in the WHL
Not all of those players will join HFD but just like last season when Staal,Moore and Dubinsky joined Hartford, some of those players will be added to the team in the playoffs.Callahan joined HFD but he didn't play in any playoff games
there are no roster limits in the AHL so they can add as many guys as they want, just a question of which guys get into the actual lineup if everyone is healthy.
but sometimes its benefitial for a junior player to join the team for the playoffs even if he doesn't get to play. just being in the lockerroom and being around the team can be a good learning experience.
