Will Primeau be a Bruin next year?

Well, Primeau did say he was disappointed to leave Boston, and was hoping that they were going to give him an extension. With his pending free agency, I ask 2 questions

1) Will Chiarelli look to re-sign Wayne (will Wayne want to come back)?

2) Do you want to see Primeau back?

1) Flat out, I don't know. Don't even know where to start/assess/anything.

2) I would like to see Primeau back. He gave it his all every night, was a great player (heart wise), and was Savard's best friend in the hockey world (so lets keep Marc happy ) He is a good fourth liner and when Reich was put on his line, it looked to me like he was playing much better.

Thoughts?

P.S. - I think this is what Edmonton did for the Sergei deal. Sent Reasoner here, then re-signed him when he was a UFA.

1) Lewis would be overjoyed to have Primeau back. I'm not sure about Chiarelli. Maybe if the money is right, Chiarelli would be pleased to get him back.

2) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

same also happened with weight and recchi last year. so it is possible. in the back of my mind i'm wondering if that might happen with stuart or sturm (if he's dealt). it has a hint of illegality to it though. player and gm making a deal to trade the player as a rental and get something back, and then resign afterwards. it'd be interesting.

i can see the B's going back after Stuart if he hits the market.

Agreed no need for Primeau we need to keep roster spaces open for guys like Krejci, Kalus, Karsums etc. for next year.

I would love to have him back as the 4th line center if he came at under $1 mill per. Unfortunatly if he were infact brought back next season, Lewis would only continue to misuse him.

Wayne Primeau is not a bad player like some people make him out to be. Like Axelsson, he is being misused by our genious coach, which exposes him to a lot of mistakes. He would be much more appreciated around here if he played 9-13 minutes a game with ES/PK.

I believe he mad 1 mill or close to this year.

I would take him back IF and ONLY IF he signed for 600k or less AND fully accepted 4th line center role AND Lewis played him there. Otherwise NO

For under 1 mil I'd take him back.

I'd like to see him back. In fact, I was kinda disappointed when he got traded, but then I saw that Kobasew was coming to us and I didn't really care.

Let's see:
No. 1) No
No. 2) No

It's time to keep moving forward, I don't dislike Preems as a person or as a player really I just think it's time to look at some of the guys from Providence who deserve to get a look-see. He is probably going to get around the same as he got from Boston/San Jose so I doubt he'd want to take the hometown discount anyway.
The other problem is the manlove that DL has for him. He can't help but put him out there all the time, even when he'd take needless penalties.

You need to have a good mix of youth, and veterans with leadership on the team. I wouldn't wan't to go into the playoffs with a team that only has 3-4 players that have ever been there before.

By the time we make the playoffs, all our youths will be veterans

Never thought about that. Lewis does like him. It's worth a thought. I wouldn't mind signing him again and then trading him again for another pick.

Agreed. Plus the best part about watching the other night's game was not seeing #20 out there. He is such a stiff..no offense. But he sucks..no offense again. Hey MOC JT for Primeau (sucks..no offense), Stuart (underacheiving #2 D-man) , Sturm (#2 LW)...Are you out of your f***ing mind?

All reminders of the trade/bloodletting that brought him here aside, Preems is useful when not being ridiculously misused.

Mowers is a better fit to center the fourth line/checking line. he has more speed and actually hits more than primeau (who rarely hit). the bruins have depth in providence so its doubtful primeau will be back. would i like to see him back? no never.

If I had to choose between the two to center the 4th line I would go with Primeau. He has more size, and IMO hit at least the same amount as Mowers, especially since Reich came up. He kills penalties like Mowers, and his offensive line is actually better:

Primeau (Totals) - 53-7-8-15
Mowers - 53-2-8-10

Considering the role the 4th line center should have, I think Primeau would be a better fit. Give him a Reich and a Laraque on that line and it would be very effective IMO. My personal opinion of Mowers is not that high to begin with anyways; he is a career AHLer/AAAA-type of guy, and I right now I think he's taking a spot on the current team away from Nate Thompson, who does exactly what Mowers does and then some. More physical as well.

All that being said, I would not take Preems back unless he is making $700K or less. What he got this year ($1.15 mil) is just too much, and he was not earning it in all honesty. At the right price, i would take Primeau back, but the deal has to be cap-friendly. And to boot, Thompson is in Providence and he's younger, and like Nugs said, it's about time we went with some of the younger guys. If the price is right, I'd do it.

It's a possibility, but I am ASSUMING that they will look elsewhere first to put that 1 Mil/Year towards a different player. Like everyone else has said, if Primeau wants to take a pay cut, then it's possible, but I don't really see it happening.

Best way to resume to whole thing is to quote HOH:

" Primeau was a different story, because he was on record as liking it here and wanted to stick around for what he envisioned as a brighter future in the Hub of Hockey. Truth is, Boston management felt the future here was brighter without him ".
We are all feeling the same, aren't we? Primeau is slow, unproductive and prone to bad penalties... The best way to lose is to put this guy on the ice for 10-15 min. Lewis did that and his team was losing. How curious...

Yes; Wayne Primeau is a penalty on a plate. Offensive zone penalties that drive coaches to drink (more than usual). We need his size back, but it's got to come back with more mobility. No to Primeau here.

Lewis would love to have Primeau back.....

I believe he would say "well, I think we could use a #1 center on this team to play with our #1 LW, aah, yeah, #11, alfred, uh I mean Axelsson"

Lewis = Joke

No and No, he was worthless here unless you liked watching Boston kill lazy penalties
(hooking) I would have PC fired immediately if he resigned Primeau. I don't care if you signed him for league minimum that's still way more than he's worth.

As it stands now, Lewis will have 2/3rds of his favorite trio back for next season (Mowers and Donovan both are signed for next year).

Do I want Primeau back? Simple answer is NO. I'd much rather see a young player get a chance.

That being said, I wouldn't mind it if Chiarelli dumped Mowers and signed Primeau. I think Preems brings more than Mowers does and would be a better 4th liner. The problem then becomes Dave Lewis, who would likely play Primeau like a 2nd line power forward and PP specialist :

Reich-Primeau-Donovan would be a much better energy 4th line than Reich-Mowers-Donovan...
