My favorite part of this game will be watching Fiddler and Nichol skate like the Dickens for their professional lives.

Game Day Notes from NashvillePredators.com

*Predators try for seventh straight win against Blues*
------------------------------------------------------

Nashville (39-16-3) at St. Louis (23-26-9) 8:00 pm EST

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators hope to continue
their dominance of the St. Louis Blues when the Central
Division rivals meet on Friday.

The Predators have won all six meetings, but the drama here
revolves around the acquisition of Peter Forsberg. Nashville
obtained the star center from the Philadelphia Flyers on
Thursday for a combination of young players and draft picks.

The Flyers received right wing Scottie Upshall, defensive
prospect Ryan Parent and first- and third-round selections in
the upcoming draft in June from the Predators, who lead the
Western Conference with 81 points.

"Peter Forsberg is one of the NHL's most complete players and
the ultimate competitor - a consistent winner who has, year in
and year out, been a difference-maker in the Stanley Cup
Playoffs," Nashville general manager David Poile said. "He
strengthens our club up the middle and will provide another
battle-tested, veteran voice to our dressing room.

A healthy scratch from Philadelphia's lineup for Thursday's home
game against Toronto, the 33-year-old Forsberg has recorded 11
goals and 29 assists in 40 games this season. The five-time
All-Star, who is in the final year of a two-year, $11.5 million
contract, has missed 16 games with a number of injuries,
including groin, foot and back ailments.

Even though the Predators have won all six meetings from Blues,
the combined score is just 20-14. Nashville has defeated St.
Louis twice in shootouts and once in overtime.

Paul Kariya leads the Predators with 42 assists and 59 points,
but has just two assists in his last six games. The center has
three goals and five assists against the Blues.

Goaltender Tomas Vokoun had 22 saves in a 5-0 victory over the
San Jose Sharks last Wednesday. Vokoun has two shutouts in his
last four games, including 36 saves in a 5-0 win over the
Anaheim Ducks on February 3.

The Blues are 3-3-1 in their last seven and try to rebound from
a 6-5 loss to the Sharks on Tuesday.

Bill Guerin recorded a hat trick and also scored in a 4-2
victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday. The right
wing has three goals and two assists against the Predators this
season.

Left wing Keith Tkachuk had an assist against the Blue Jackets,
and has nine points in his last nine games. Tkachuk has 13
goals and 34 points in 31 career games against Nashville.

I'm glad he is going to be making his debut for us tomorrow night at home, instead of on the road against St. Louis. Going to make tomorrow night's game awesome. So Mason goes tonight, and Vokoun tomorrow night against Minny, right?

We have a game tonight? Just kidding. I wish we could see Foppa play tonight, oh well.

Detroit is still breathing down our neck for the Central Title. We really, really need a win tonight.

i heard it from a couple of different sources he wouldn't play tonight. assuming the travel is still messed up due to snow(remember SJ didn't get in until 3 AM due to snow in StL) it makes since. if that is the case we will be down 2 F/C tonight with toot's out, upshall gone and foppa not with the team.

of course i read that nabby wasn't expected to be back in net for SJ (according to the mecury new/SJ). he was not expeted to rejoin the team until thursday since he had a kid and was still nursing a groin pull and we saw how that worked out. i try to go with the most recent info, but things can change and nobody sends out a memo.

You are correct. A fight for the 3 spots between Hordy, Tootoo, Nichol, Smithson, and Fiddler against the Blues with the bad blood from the previous games should make for a fun evening, even without Tootoo. Assuming no Foppa, Fiddler/Nichol will center the third and Fiddler/Nichol will center Hordichuk and Smithson. That 4th line should be flying all over the place tonight.

Sometimes when you expect a bloodbath, it doesn't happen but with the STL win streak on the line for both teams + bad blood + jobs on the line....

Anyone think that Trotz continues to play 7 d-men (since it worked against SJ) or will Zanon be scratched?

It could mean the difference in scratching only Smithson OR Hordichuk & Smithson (if we use 7 D-men). I say this because we know Trotz will not scratch Fiddler...

I think Smithson will get scratched tonight, and Hordy will get some playing time against the Blues. Although they may scratch both Smithson and Hordy to dress 7 D-men. I don't know if they are "still working Vishnevski in" or scratching Zanon and turning him loose with someone. I just hope that his "getting out of position to make a big hit" brain farts are left behind in Atlanta.

I like dressing 7 D and have a double shifter on the 4th. When Foppa arrives, we shouldn't have to roll the 4th very much at all.

I had that yesterday right when the Forsberg news was coming out. I wasn't surprised to see a meltdown. Today it must just be like an aftershock after an earthquake. Just a residual tremor.

Maybe we'll see the third line guys really bring some heat. But my guess is that David Legwand will play with fire to show that his line shouldn't be broken up. And to show HIS skillz.

Legwand with two goals tonight I say.
