kings proposal for lupul!

i've been posting with oiler fans about a possible deal on their board. i like lupul and i think he'd be good with kopitar and brown. he is also young enough to fit into our youth movement and has some-what proven( despite his off year) that he has top scoring line potential. the jury is still out on this deal for oiler fans but would you trade

sopel
tukonen
b.boyle
nyr 2cd in 08

for

lupul

is this a fair deal or overpayment by the kings? would you do this if you were an oilers fan?

That is a massive overpayment.

oiler fans want to do one for one deals of visnovsky or jmfj or our first..

sopel is gone after this year to free up cap space
tukonen is progressing but i would part with something to get something
b.boyle would be tough to lose
the pick in 08 might be a little much.

Lupul is not cut out for the new NHL.

He is looking more and more like a Jeff Friesen type everyday. No thanks.

Man, the Oilers got hosed in that deal.

Yeah, well **** Oilers fans. Who gives a **** what they want to do.

You would be giving up something to get nothing. The end.

Amazing. 1 "off-year" where he will still likely pot 20 goals, and all of a sudden we got hosed.

Lupul and Smid will pay off long term. That is why we got a bunch of 1st and 2nds as well.

We are more then content to keep Lupul, esp for the piddling returns people are tossing around as proposals (Note: this isn't a jab against you KOTR: you have been very polite and decent with your proposal. )

But we just aren't moving a guy with 40 goal upside for Sopel. Would you guys?

No but the original deal was borderline insane. Massive overpayment for Lupul who is choking in Edmonton and he's a local kid. You can keep him.
You need D more than us as we blow chunks. Give us Anaheim's 1st and we can call it a day. We'll even throw in Willsie.

Sopel and a 2nd should suffice as the Oilers are desperate for a D-man and we are desperate for nothing. Add in a bottom pairer like Kostopoulus or another pick but keep Tukonen and Boyle and see how they progress.

If you think of it Sopel is tradeable for a 2nd or 3rd rounder so Lupul would go for a 2nd rounder and what equals out to a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Lupul is having a rough year, takes to many stupid penalties but also has top end talent and may explode. He is on the books for approx 2.3 million a year, a chance I would take.

i'm crushed that you disagree with me on EVERYTHING..would you like to elaborate. I don't think we have the same views on hockey but i'm not knocking you for yours. i don't care if you don't like my opinions but try to contribute something to the discussion, if you are going to knock me then give me a reason.

it's only wrong according to you.

and yes, you stating he is, and has been, 'wrong' without any sort of justification or your own $.02 makes you look Hayward the Homer.

with that being said, I'll plead the 5th and call it a day as to whether I agree or disagree with the dude.

sopel is a ufa who at most would get us a second
tukonen is still young and has some upside but i don't think he's not expendable
b.boyle(is he even signed, is there a chance he wont sign with LA)-in all honesty he would be the one i'd least like to move.

the 2cd would be overpayment after thinking about it and the generous input of you posters has persuaded me so. if anything i might add it as a conditional pick based on sopel.

would you trade lupul for tukonen and boyle straight up as an oiler fan. is their projected upside more then what lupul has already proven..last year after the lockout? sopel would be just a rental and the two young propects is essentially what they would be left with after he left.

lupul is equal to brown in my mind but more of a scorer and less of a banger..and he's young. it's a big gamble and i understand why many of you would not do this trade.

Lupul is garbage. There is a reason why the fans boo him at Rexall.

Don't try pulling the Bergeron move and arguing that he is worth more than he is.

Sopel & 4th (maybe a 3rd) for Lupul

Sopel's Stats
GP G A PTS +/-
2006-2007 40 4 17 21 -1

Lupuls' Stats

2006-2007 57 15 8 23 -15

Lupul's having a horrible year, he could put up some nice numbers playing along side of Kopitar.

There are boos during the games...not audible on TV, but audible when one is in attendance. Soon they will turn to full out boos.
