What would you think of Souray as a Bruin?

Hes a UFA that will be 31yo this Summer....
He has had hand/wrist issues in his career but has one of the better shots from the blueline, can be a physical force and i believe ive read hes a good leader.

With Stuart gone and the cap going up Souray seems like an awesome #2 dmen behind Chara to try to grab.

If the bidding gets to Jovonovski levels(5yrs 30$) id definitly pass but if Chia was prepared to offer Stuart 5$per for 3-5 years then i think Souray would be an ideal pickup....and again the Bruins would be taking away the best Dmen off a divsional rival

Id be willing to go 4yrs 5-5.5per Max

THoughts?

Montreal would give him the max contract in the league just so that we didnt get him. For us, thats like losing Chara to Montreal in the offseason for nothing. Not going to happen.

I think that would be akin to the Red Sox landing Derek Jeter.

5M for Souray??? Let the Habs have'em at that rate. Or any of the other 28 teams for that matter. He's a decent #3 but no way a legit top pairing guy - way, way too many defensive lapses and poor decision making.

I'd pass on Souray, he is phycial and has a great shot but time and time again he makes bone headed plays in his own zone. If he's asking for over 5 million a year, there's better places to spend that kind of money on.

Souray adds toughness and a booming PP shot, but not much else. We could use some toughness, but we don't need any more PP defenseman. For us, he would be a seriously overpaid tough-guy. He's going to get over 5M from someone and you can take that to the bank.

Don't even bother with him.

We need a tough-as-nails stay-at-home defenseman who will not command crazy coin, 3M or less. Andy Sutton anyone?

Rather take Chris Philips for less than Souray who will overpaid. Souray's good but not great.

We do not have the $ to invest in that. If we could dump Chara (insert flaming bombardment)
If we did have the money, I would be all over it.
Souray is the best Hab player to come along for a while.

That's not saying much these days. Souray has scored 19 goals, but has cost his team many more than that with his poor hands and sloppy skating. Honestly, I'd rather have Komisarek or Markov than Souray. He's this year's Bryan McCabe... one-way defensemen who are remembered for the big goals they score, and not for the bone-headed plays they make game-in, game-out.

Stay away... far away...

If the money was right then I would take him. When you say that it would be like Jeter the Red Sox, I don't think I would go that far on that. There is plenty of guys on Montreal (Kovalev, Rivet, etc) that I would despise seeing here but I wouldn't mind seeing Souray. He is a great player and brings a lot to the table. But keep in mind I am only saying "if the money is right".

I have a friend who is a big hab fan and he says that he would Not give Souray 5 Million per year as "He Sucks Defensivley".

Myself if we can get him for 4 Million per season (which I doubt as he'll probably end up getting 5 - 6 million per season) or less I'd sign him, up to 4 years.

This team needs more solid-defensively dmen rather than power play specialists. Chris Phillips would be a huge pickup if we could get him. I'd give him a 5yr/22mil dollar deal.

You are talking about Souray? Why would you want him? If the Bruins can draw 5-10penalties a game maybe you sign him. Look I don't like the guy okay, anyone that uses his stick like he does should be answering the bell more often.

im very surprised at the lack of SOuray support
When looking around the league and seeing what Mccabe-Jovo-Foote and many other Dmen are getting and what Stuart for example will get Souray at 5$ per really isnt bad....ill bet if we were to fast forward to July hell get that amount of $ and likely surpass it

Periodic appearances by ex-wife part of the deal? If so, count me in.

Souray is poor defensively, his best thing is his slap shot and by playin on the power play.
He is the only guy I know who's good for both teams on the ice.
Everybody remembers how he got FOOLED by Bergy on that one?
