A first round exit would be oh-so-ironic for this team......

Funniest thing I ever saw.

Prince opening can of whoopass in basketball is a close second.

Still won't change the fact the announcer has to explain icing.

"Damn daddy...do they all get one of Stanley's Cups?"

good return for the flyers, unfortunately. i was hoping they'd get screwed on the trade.

nashville is scary good now, too. they'd probably score 21 goals against the b's in a game.

looks like a win/win deal if the preds go deep and/or keep forsberg for a few more years.

Hopefully this drives up the price and urgency to land guys like Murray, Axe, Sturm.

Not that they're the only players to be had.

i'm starting to wonder if murray to detroit has some legs. i think they need some grit as well, so there might be two separate deals.

Completely OT - nice av ;-)

How's Detroit doing on cap space? Who could Detroit offer for Murray? Or are you thinking a 3-way?

hurting a bit on cap space, but they can push hasek bonuses to next year (which i heard they are considering). they'd try to move out a player - maybe jason williams? i wouldn't want williams, but as you said, maybe a third team would take him.

You think they would be willing to give up some of there prospects like Jiri Hudler or Valtteri Filppula or Igor Grigorenko?

With Nashville landing Forsberg... hopefully the West becomes an arms race and teams get desperate to stock up.

Detroit seemed like front-runners for Forsberg a few weeks ago. If Murray is someone they want I find a way to make it happen. I'm not advocating giving Murray away but he is what he is...

It's the difference between good management and bad management.

Very very sad to see that Philadelphia got more from Nashville for renting Forsberg than Boston got for giving Joe Thornton to San Jose for 3 years (at least).

Deal works for Nashville if Forsberg stays healthy and they play in the finals. Overpayed but instantly became #1 favourite for the cup.

Lets hope Sharks, Ducks and Wings respond and start buying (and overpaying) too.

Murray to Sharks, Sturm Ducks/Wings for young exciting talent that makes Bruins treat to watch.

That's just smart. Why not help out the casual sports fan who might not get all the rules yet?

Two prospects... maybe. A prospect and a #1 pick... I can see that. But Two Prospects and Two Picks... thats too much future to give up. What if Forsberg gets hurt (again) or what if they don't even win and he leaves for greener pastures...

These are the kind of deals that come back to haunt teams.

I would trade off ANY player to win the cup. I would even have traded Bourque and Neely off the 1990 team if it meant winning the cup. It's all about the cup

Don't forget to mention Foppa's a rental too.

I think this is an appropriate exchange. We're talking about a Cup winning, Gold Medalist, sure-fire HoF player with leadership qualities, grit, and supreme offensive ability. Even if he is made of particle board, this guy is a magnet for success and it cost Nashville a 3rd/4th line forward, a defenseman that has virtually no offensive ability, a late 1st round pick, and a 3rd. As deep as Nashville is, they were able to give up this amount of volume without it make a bit of difference to their team this season, and only a minimal difference next season.

Of course, Philly acquires some future assets to help them crawl out of the cellar next season. Win-win from where I type.
