Your comment really shows your ignorance with regards to Hatcher. For the past 40 games, he's played quite well. He's averaged 23 minutes of ice time, has been a plus player, and has helped lead a PK unit to be one of the tops in the league. However, I'd expect someone who doesn't watch a lot of Philadelphia games to not know that and only pretend that by reading final scores and not looking at the stat sheets to come up with a comment like that. Do us all a favor and pull your lip over your head and swallow.

wow

yah guys don't complain about upshall i know the guy(as a player) well being from the west. he is a good addition to our team along with everything else we got. we made out well on this. we are in a rebuilding season, and we have just begun to do that. bring on the draft and free agency.

I'm just going to copy/paste what I said on the Trade Rumors board..

Quote:
Personally I believe this trade is great for both teams.

The Flyers get a stud defence prospect that they need so badly, some draft picks for the future, and another young, feisty player.

The Predators get one of the best players to lace up skates, and a playoff warrior. This by far puts the Predators over the top to win the cup.

...his english is perfect.

Richards needs to earn it. he hasn't yet... it shouldn't just be handed to him. give it to Kapanen or Knuble (they'll both be here) and go from there.

Parent has the makings of a leader as well.

Do you guys think Forsberg did one of those secret handshakes, and that he will be playing back here next season? I sure hope so. That would definetly be a steal.

No way... No way in hell....

P.S It is funny to see how most NYR fans are talking crap (not in this thread but other threads) ... At this point Flyers will have more prospects by the end of 2007 draft...

We are still weak in goal... but this team is young in 1 year. We need a franchise player tough..

Great trade for Flyers. Parent will be a stud d-man and i think Upshall could do really well in Philly. Nashville wasnt the right situation for him.

would nashville have given as much as they did without getting at least a verbal from forsberg that he'd resign there?

And what would of been the point of keeping Forsberg in Philly for the rest of the season in last place. Might as well get something for him now and you can always try to re sign him in the off season. YOu clearly know very little about the life of a GM.

They haven't talked to him otherwise there wouldn't be a conditional pick upon him resigning there.

Forsberg took the pregame skate which meant the trade went down in minutes meaning I doubt he would have committed his future in that time.

This is how I think it went down:

They had a meeting this morning with Peter saying we have a deal in place, will you waive your no trade to go to Nashville? Peter said yes (and thus the "no comment" when asked after the meeting), they got back on the phone with Poile whenever possible and finalized the deal during warmups.

Truthfully, I doubt it. Forsberg publicly said on more than one occasion that he wanted to stay in Philly, but wouldn't make any decision until he was absolutely certain about his ankle(s). If he wouldn't 100% commit to us, I doubt he'd do it to a team he hasn't even played a game with.

i'm sure they asked if he was ready to sign a deal now... and he said no.
