So, you're saying that games in hand are a tie breaker before wins? That makes no sense to me. Having games in hand doesn't mean they will win them. How can they make rankings based on the fact "they might" win those games? Montreal has a game in hand on Carolina and are only one point behind, so using the same logic they should place Montreal ahead of Carolina because Montreal has played less games and "might" win that game in hand which would put them one point ahead of the Canes.

like usual and another pathetic draft instead of getting in the top 10

Says so right on the NHL's website, even. Right below the standings. The first tie-breaker is games played, the second is wins.

So yup, we're officially out of a playoff spot.

If that's the case then they should use winning percentage like all other pro sports leagues. This point system doesn't work for me anyways. Winning percentage reflects the true standing of a team and it also eliminates the difference in games played at various times of the season.

Honestly it doesn't really make a difference because at the end of the year everyone will have played the same amount of games and then they move on to the next tiebreaker which is wins.

Freudian Slip?

By the way, there were a half dozen people doubting this team would make the playoffs, and the fantastic start wouldn't last.

In all reality if we trade some players to get prospects and picks and continue our slide and let the kids play we could finish 2nd last in the East, we are only 9 points ahead of Florida....I'm not convinced we are going to go on a 15-5-3 run...are u?

Kostistyn sucks! He lacks desire and a North American name, send him back to Belarus.

He is falling, but will we be at that spot to pick him or will a player like Kane or Gagner???

Well, we are falling fast too...maybe one of those kids can be in our future if we tank it big time!

To those who believe the likes of Kane and Cherepanov will fall to the middle of the pack, you are clueless.

Nope, I thought people here were intelligent enough to figure my sarcasm.

Angelo is overrated but he would fit well with fellow overrated players Kovalev, Samsonov, Souray and Koivu.

I didn't like what I saw of Gagner during the World Juniors. I would like to have Kane though, special player he is.
