Our lists are very similar!

If I were to include Crosby and Ovechkin, then mine would go:
1.Crosby
2.Ovechkin
3.Kovalchuk
4.Nash
5.Heatley

I put Ovechkin over Kovalchuk because my Russian friend tells me he plays like Thornton with the goal scoring capabilities of Kovalchuk. Doesn't get more complete than that!

Why no Thornton? The guy can pretty much do it all.

See my original list on why Thornton would get bumped. In a nutshell, I don't see him being a big enough goal scorer to move ahead of either Nash or Heatley. He would be #6 on my list, though.

How can you include Crosby and Ovechkin on this list? They haven't played a game in the NHL. Are you so blinded by HYPE that you put two players you've never seen play against NHL-level competition above Joe Thornton? And you put Crosby above Kovalchuk who's leading the NHL in points at the age of 20 despite a weak supporting cast. Oh the stupidity, the stupidity...

I seperated this list altogether from the other one and yes maybe I am a bit blinded by the hype a bit and second of all, I wasn't very high on putting Ovechkin ahead of Thornton, since Thornton is my fav hockey player.

By the way, that's the first time I've ever been called stupid on the subject of hockey. In this small town I live in, if anyone wants to know anything about hockey they come to me.

That's not really important but I just felt like adding it in there since u called me stupid.

Word.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ovechkin - but he hasn't even played in the NHL yet. Dunno about Sidney. I've never really seen him play so I can't say anything.

Newayz,

my list in no particular order: Thornton, Kovalchuk, Heatley, Hossa, and Nash.

To answer someone's previous question (and I apologize for not remembering who asked it), yes, Pavel is 25...but he's not doing too shabby...he's got one and one tonight which gives him 30 points already. Not too bad...

And people thought he couldn't score goals...phfff

I'd have Tanguay and Datsyuk among others all just outside the 'Big 5' of Kovalchuk, Heatley, Thornton, Hossa, and Nash (no particular order). I just can't justify knocking any of those 5 out. Even though he's had an ordinary year so far, Vinny Lecavalier is the only guy I could see knocking one of them out if he turns it on.

5.Toss up between Hossa and Hejduk

Hossa is probably higher than Hejduk, but I figured they were too close to call. [QUOTE]

Hejduk is over 25, so Hossa it is...

Are Datsyuk and Iginla 25 or under? If so add them...

I agree with this list, but to mention chistov, hemsky and spezza and omit Tanguay is criminal.

Ok, ok... I should have mentioned Tanguay. But what I want to know is how come nobody else is mentioning Gaborik? Sure he is having a rough start to this season but he is ridiculously talented.

He is very talented, but I don't think he'll be one of the top 5 scorers in hockey any time in the future. I see him just outside the top 5.
