Who would you WANT to play 1st round...

Out of the all the teams in the west that have been dominating play, which one would you want to play against in the 1st round? Honestly I'd say Dallas. Usually a little more balanced against eachother and it would be good to play our other team.

I honestly want Annaheim and Nashville to beat eachother up either one of those teams is hitting up the SC this year.

Yeah, you've got to play the better teams at some point anyway. And frankly, there's a lot to be said for playing the tougher teams early on. A soft, relatively small team like Minnesota takes a beating in the postseason, and often has trouble playing against a better team in the later rounds. I'd almost rather hit the top seeds head-on right out of the gate; bring your best game, let the chips fall where they may, and hope that in the third round, you catch a lower seed that squeaked through with an upset or two.

I know, that doesn't always work out so well. Look at 2003; weren't the Anaheims a 7th seed? Playing Colorado and Vancouver in the first two rounds didn't do much for us then except wear the guys out to the point where they could barely skate upright, but still, all in all I'd rather the early rounds were as easy as a playoff series can be expected to be. Once you get to the last couple of rounds, it's often the freshest legs that win the day if the teams are otherwise evenly matched.

With how close the NW division is, we could finish first or third. Remember, that we have a long homestand to end the season so if we're a game or two out of first, we have a shot at topping the division. We could be 3rd in the West playing Calgary, Dallas or Vancouver. Conversely, we could be 8th in the West playing Anaheim, Detroit or Nashville. If we're going to have a long run into the playoffs, we're going to have to beat two of the these three: Anaheim, Detroit and Nashville.

I would rather hit up Nashville and Detroit. D-town has been choking a lot in the playoffs and Nashville's two best players (Kariya, Foppa) are injury prone...would have to hope for somethin in the 1st round to hurt them a little bit, even a 7 game stretch for them would help us. I would rather hit up the Nucks or the Stars before having to tackle a powerhouse out of the gate.

I'll take Nashville. Call me cocky, but we seem to have their number. I don't want Anaheim, Dallas, or Detroit.

Funny thing is...I don't think your right about that. I don't think having Foppa makes them any MORE of a better team. Their PP just got a huge bump but thats all I really see. I think Annaheim would be the toughest test.

I think you guys facing Nashville would be an interesting series since your season series is essentially even. I wouldn't be the bit surprised to see you guys oust them in the first round.
