Its way too early to tell, It will be interesting to see how Price does in the AHL next year. When both goalies are in the same league it will be easier to compare them, but right now, one plays junior hockey and the other plays professional.

Woah Woah Woah...

I really like both goalies but saying "its not even close" is pushing it. Pogge was great last year. Carey is good this year, but not as good as Pogge was last year.

Both goalies had awesome tournaments.

This year Pogge is one level ahead in AHL but not having a great season. Yeah, the team is pathetic altogether.

Pogge or Price both have done nothing to suggest one is better than other. Both are still very bright prospects. IMO, they're both equal.

It also depends on the team in front of them, right?

Cant compare them

Pogge is playing pro on a horrible team
Price is playing junior

They will be easy to compare next yr if Price makes the jump to Pro.

Looking past stats and international preformance (Which, IMO, isn't even close - Pogge was just along for the ride, Price was the MVP), Price is just the better talent. His ability to dominate down low, strong lateral mobility, Turco-esque puckhandling ability, and agressive nature (He reminds me a lot of Olaf Kolzig in that way, he's always agressive on the shooter and is a flawless challenger) make him a head-and-shoulders better prospect then Pogge is.

I mean, just look how Pogge has done without a dominating defence in front of him? Facing more then twenty shots a game in the AHL, you're starting to see the real Justin Pogge - how do you think he'll ever survive in an NHL club with the likes of Bryan McCabe on it's blue-line?

This topic was beaten to death right after the WJC's this year.Ask me in about 10 years and I should be able to give you an answer. With any luck this one doesn't turn into another pi$$ing match between Habs and Leafs fans.

Grow up, dont forget Montreal has Souray, who is probably the worst dman for getting dangled. poor Price when or if he makes the jump to pro.

Dont talk about Price until he plays pro. Hes playing with little kids for crying out loud. Pogge is playing with guys who are or close to NHL calibre.

Not to mention Price was a 5th overall pick, Pogge was a 3rd rounder. We shouldnt even be comparing them, Price SHOULD be the better goalie. The Leafs found a gem later in the draft and good for them.

price or pogge

ya i know ones in the ahl and ones in the jr's so its hard to compare. I just wanted to see what everyone thought and yes price was the higher pick that doesn't mean hes going to be better their are alot of late round picks that turn out good and alot of high picks that turn out bad. I find that goalies play better when they get more shots compared to when they only get a small work load thats why i think brodeur is so great he can have only 17 shots against and stay in the game and not let a weak one in, which most goalies have trouble with.

I'd take Price over Pogge. Always preferred Rask to Pogge and Rask to Price even though I never liked Rask.

Being a long term WHL fan, having seen both numerous times, Price is far, far more talented.

You would hope that would be the case, given their relative draft positions, wouldn't you? Let's see how Price performs at the pro level. The Marlies are a horrible team and I also think it's a little premature to judge Pogge as a pro at this point.

How can you say that when Pogge was the most outstanding Goalie in the WHL last yr, had far superior numbers to Price and was just plain better.

Tri-City stunk last year if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure that someone else said it depends on the team in front of them.

Concerning goalies, CHL stats are nearly useless - especially in the Dub. More often then not - actually, almost always - the goalies with rediculous SV%s in the Dub never amount to anything in the NHL, because they face 20 shots a night and never have to win games for them. A goalie who plays on a brutal team, even if his stats suffer, will always turn out to be a better goalie then one with incredible stats, because he learns to lose and cope with bad goals and cope with 40 shots a night and all those things that NHL goalies have to cope with, and all the things that Pogge has failed to cope with at the AHL level.

If he's a long term WHL fan then he's probably seen both goalies numerous times and is making his judgment based on what he's seen, not on what he's read or others have seen.

Price looks to have more potential but potential doesn't turn into success all the time. We've to know which one will be better at the pro level (atleast in the AHL). It's hard to predict the future of a goaltender even tho' he has all the tools....pointless for habs fans to be homers here. I recall leafs fans saying Pogge was better a year ago tho'....

Why can you not compare them just because they are in different leauges? Goaltenders play relatively the same way weather its juniors or minors, you can examine technique and develop an understanding of the goaltenders talent from more than just stats. I'll admit I havent seen enough of pogge to give an opinion on him but I've seen price a lot and he is a supreme talent and actually quite refined in technique.

well, he's probably seen both play numerous times and he thinks Price is the better goaltender.

offended because he didn't say Pogge is better?
