Calgary/Florida/Blues trade proposal

Here is a proposal for a trade with Flames, Florida and Blues that I think may help all the parties involved

Trade to Florida From Flames
Tony Amonte, Marcus Nilson, and a 4th round pick

Trade to Flames From Florida
Olli Jokinen and Gary Roberts

Trade to Blues From Flames
Olli Jokinen and Andrei Zyuzin and a 2nd second round pick for Bill Gurien and Eric Brewer

In the end Flames, Florida and Blues will get

Flames
Gary Roberts, Bill Gurien and Eric Brewer,

Florida
Tony Amonte, Marcus Nilson, and a 4th round pick.

Blues
Olli Jokinen, Andrei Zyuzin and a 2nd Round pick

Gary was put into the picture to get atleast one more shot a the playoff before he retires.

Absolutely ridiculous. Why would Florida trade their best player for two pieces of garbage like Amonte and Nilson and a 2nd round pick when they could easily get a top prospect, young top six player, young top four defenseman, and at least one first round pick for him?

The Panthers would get a player that has been to the playoff in Amonte and a developing player in Nilson then they can use the second round pick to get a good player. If this trade happens the Panthers could play out the rest of the season then decide what type of team they need for next year. Florida would need a good goalie, a good defencemen, second line scoring then they will have a chance to make the playoff.

If they get Amonte and Nilson then in the off season they will have lots of money leftover from trading Olli Jokinen who would like to play for a team with playoff potential, the panthers can trade Amonte or Nilson or both to upgrade for for a good goalie, a good defencemen or a second line scorer. They can also use the extra money they saved in the Ollie Jokinen Deal to get upgrades they need. Then they can look at their roster and make some changes that can put them in a Playoff picture in a year or two. I also think they should get a new coach such as Pat Quinn.

If the Flames get Ollie Jokinen and Gary Roberts then trade Ollie Jokinen and a roster player and draft pick and maybe Gary Roberts to the Blues for Gurien and Brewer the Blues will have a number one centre that they can build their team around.

The Flames will have Gurien and Brewer who along with Primeau and Stuart will be UFA and can sign with any team at the end of the season. Sutter would try his best to keep one D-man and one Forward. Making the Flames a better team as they will gaurantee to have at least one d-man and one Forward for next season.

If that deal happened why would the Flames trade Ollie Jokinen. That would be a horrible trade. Who wants Guerin and Brewer. Keep Jokinen and we win.

The Flames have good depth but need a good center man. Yelle is the Flames best centerman but with him hurting his foot too often he will not play long minutes and I feel Gurien may help at center ice and another d-man would be nice and I like Brewer to be that d-man since Andrie Zyuzuin is not playing to his potentional since Sutter picked him up from the Wilds. The reason I wanted the trade for Ollie Jokinen was to use him as bait to get Gurien as Ollie contract is too much for the Flames to handle right now and if the Flames kept him they would have trouble resigning Primeau and Stuart as Ollie would take a big chunk of the Flames salary cap.

Guerin is a winger how will he help at center? you do realize the Flames just picked up Primeau who is a center right? the Flames have 6 natural centers in the lineup... we are even going to have our 3rd line center score 20+ goals...

the weakenst thing about our centers is faceoffs... Conroy, Yelle and Primeau are slightly over 50%... Ritchie has only lost 1 more than he has won... Lombardi is floating around 49-50%... Langkow is our only cente rthat is poor at faceoffs and with his production its not a glaring flaw

Lunatik you made a good point about center who do you think the Flames should take for a d-man as the Flames were counting on Andrei Zyuzin to be one of the top d-man but is playing not to Sutters standards. Also do you think that Playfair should play Jamie McLennan more when they the Flames know that they made the playoff to get him ready incase Kipper gets injured like Rollie was to Edmonton in the Cup Finals.

You really do need to see the Florida Panthers play. Seriously. I'm sorry, but your assigned value of Jokinen is ridiculously low.

maybe you should actually watch the flames... he has only been playing because or warrener's injury and to occasionally give giordano a night off... and when he does play its less than 15 minutes per night which is not even being close to being a top d-man... and Zyuzin has been playing better since he is finally 100%

let me put it to you this way trading Jokinen and Roberts would be like trading Iginla and Yelle for Amonte, Nilson, and a fourth but our version. no im not trying to say Olli is better than Iggy cuz hes not but im trying to make so you see it our way...horrible proposal

Please, when making proposals, remember that Craig Button is no longer a GM for any team in the NHL, at least at this moment.

Roberts is going to Toronto for sure next year so there's almost no point in getting him. I like Guerin and Brewer, but Olli Jokinen would cost more than Amonte, Nilson and a 4rth by himself unless Martin's lost his marbles.
