Vandy stealing thunder?

If you want to merge this into the stickied thread, feel free, but I was curious to wonder if Vandy's win over the #1 ranked Florida has stolen the lustre or interest from the Forsberg acquisition.

I mean, that is one helluvan event, combined with Forsberg not scoring a point in his first game.

Has it stolen the thunder of the Preds?

Vandy beating the #1 team should be one of the top stories in the country and deserves to be the top story in Nashville today. However, it's just a regular season game and it happened on a weekend so I don't think it's going to cause a riot in Nashville or anything. People will talk about it on Monday, but a Preds win and/or a big game for Forsberg against Phoenix will probably be the talk of Tuesday.

I don't think people necessarily root for Vandy because they're in Nashville. I'd say you're born into loving or hating Vandy. There are enough Kentucky and Tennessee fans in Nashville that it's rare that Vandy captures the imagination of the city of Nashville.

Nobody really hates Vandy. They are just, there.

no one really hates Vandy, but it kinda feels good when they do something. They are just like your little brother. You want em to win everything, but aren't shocked if they do or don't.

Nah, they are more like your next door neighbor's kid. You are mildly happy when they win and don't miss a beat when they lose.

But all your subdued happiness and suffering for Vandy is more for your one or two Vandy friends as much as it is for the actual university.

Vandy is, as Basher metioned, just "there." Most Nashvillians want them to succeed but aren't going to invest anything emotionally to a university they share nothing with but a hometown.

When I drove to work 7:30-7:40 that they were talking Preds for most of that 10 minutes and someone called in and said "I hate to derail all the Preds talk, but Vandy beat the #1 team on Saturday and I'd like to talk about them."

The only thing derailing Preds getting Forsberg talk is that their hasn't been another Preds game. No one wants to talk too much about a loss anyway. It'll be right back tonight.

I'm a somewhat big Vandy fan. WoooHOOOO! What a game! Go Dores!

That said I'll be following the Preds pretty darn close. They need to step it up and regain that mo they had near the break.

I hope Legwand can find chemistry with Hartnell and Radu. He was playing well, but had less icetime then Forsberg in Forsberg's very first game. I was suprprised by that. Radu and Hartnell deserve a good center though, so they should be working hard with Legwand.

I'd love to hear what the radio crew would say if I was to call in and say "I hate to derail all the Vandy talk, but the Predators have been a top team all year long and I'd like to talk about them."

I'm sure there might be laughter or if it was in the afternoon, Plaster would get his annoyed tone, Daunic would attempt to talk about it and McFarlane would cut him off changing the subject about this weekend's golf event.

I hate Vandy. I hate them with a passion. Imagine the Red Wings, Yankees, and Osama Bin Laden on the same field, then multiply by 10.

One of the top 3 greatest sporting moments of my life was when MT blocked the kick that ruined Vandy's "magical" season (hopefully soon to be eclipsed by a Stanley Cup parade down Broadway).

On the subject of the actual game itself, I was shocked they beat the No. 1 team in the country. I covered their only preseason game for the Tennessean, and they beat a Div. III team by just three points.

I love Vandy been a fan for years but they are a polarizing team/School people love em or hate em Unless they make the final 4 they pose very little threat to the Preds. UT's run last did hurt the Preds last year, everone was talking Bruce Pearl

This, on the other hand, can and will knock the Preds out of the Nashville sports media focus.

Even if this report isn't true and is just a blogger beng an idiot, expect a day or two of conversation/articles about it whether it's true or not...

Expect to hear about this non-stop for weeks if it is true.

That would be enough for the Titans to release him, I would think. After the spitting incident, among other things, that'd have to be enough to get rid of him.

Well, even though Pacman is only a witness, not even a suspect or anything, it has already knocked the Preds out. The 3pm show came on, they just skimmed over the Preds (probably about 2 minutes of Preds talk) and then went right into this story. They talked for the entire next 3 hours about this. They even had to have Pac's lawyer on the show. Thankfully Hordichuk's show came on at 6 and they could talk about the only good Pro team in town.

Channel 5 waited, live, at the freaking airport for him to get home, but haha, he wasn't on the flight.

I hate the Titans.

Why can't we just trade the Titans to Los Angeles for one of its Major League Baseball teams.

Nashville's crime rate goes down. LA gets the NFL that they want. Titans players fit in nicely in South Central LA's gangland. We get a great sport that dovetails nicely with the hockey season.

Everyone wins.

sounds good, as long as it isn't the Dodgers.
