I'd much rather take Torres.

I would bet that Chris Phillips will be solid. Even though the game isn't in Edmonton, he will have a few people watching back home.

He's so predictable. Big game = solid performance.

Is this the Oilerfan who was at the last SensNight?

He was cool and an all-around nice guy. I look forward to hearing about his crushing disappointment when the Sens demolish the Oilers.

I hope Gerber steps up, if he can post some solid numbers or make some big saves, I will be very happy going into the late season and beyond.

Gerber will be fine. It's the Buffalo players' faces I would worry about when head-hunter Emery is back in nets.

Gerber has the largest eyes of any man, he see forwards, sideways and through the skin to the very soul of players. He can tell what people are going to do through feedback he gets from looking at the souls. It's hard to understand now, but in time scientists will help us understand.

With those eyes, he has several notable blind spots. For some unknown reason, he can't detect the puck from poor angles. Scientists have said this tunnel vision is likely due to his eyes being too close together in the middle of his face, like this emoticon

Is this the night a deal is done between these two teams?

Corvo for Torres or Lupul could help both teams.

And Schubert plays the rest of the season and no other defenceman gets injured?

Bingo - Allison could play a few minutes per game. It all depends on who gets hurt, when they get hurt and how long they are out. Injuries are part of the game and some teams run out of defencemen qucikly especially if other teams are specifically targeting the defence.

That being said though, IMO the weakness on this team at the moment is that we are another top 6 forward away from challenging for the cup. IMO Corvo is too much of a liability on defence for the playoffs and we experienced that last year.

Which is a perfect explanation as to why we're not trading any defencemen. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Neither Torres or Lupul is a top 6 forward. At least, not above what we already have.

Well it could certainly help Ottawa anyway.
Edmonton would likely want to blindfold you, spin you around a bunch of times and then kick you in the nuts repeatedly for suggesting it however.

I have heard trade talk involving Edmonton and those two names are mentioned often and now it's Ryan Smyth's name that is being bantered about because he is a UFA? Who would have thought that was possible and is that second sentence necessary?

It's not the first time it has been suggested Corvo for Torres and it has been mentioned often that Ottawa is shopping Corvo around. I'm of the opinion that almost anything is possible before the trade deadline. Did you have Forsberg going to Nashville?

It is. He is a decent guy, but he has a tendency to let his mouth run away from him. For such a tiny man he courts disaster.

We don't need another forward. We MAY need and certainly could use another defenceman. Going into the playoffs with only six seems rather idiotic considering the almost certain risk of injury.

Where has it been mentioned that Corvo is being shopped around?

It's been mentioned that he's been an underachieving defenceman.

When you look at what Nashville gave up, it had almost no impact on their roster.

Removing a top 6 defenceman off a team and not replacing him in that trade is a HUGE impact.

Ottawa Sun on Sunday - Garrioch's column Buyers and Sellers

Getting rid of his salary frees up some cash for a cheaper rental defenceman. There are always options.
