Ah...the joys of a rookie laden defence. Jussi looks very strong so far and he will have to be if the Oilers want a point in this game.

Damn do those lines ever look good.
Is that because there's no D listed?

Thoresen/Sykora/Petersen??? Are you KIDDING ME? We've been smoked about 5 times already in this game, and our physical answer is the midgets??

I think we coulda used some muscle in this lineup and pushed Sens around, instead we send out the midgets and leave Stortini sitting in the pressobx.

We should NOT be getting pushed around by the frickin senators.
Go figure

some early observations:

good Oiler crowd in Kanata. booing Comrie, a "Let's go Oilers" chant...good stuff

T. Gilbert has forced two right-on shots from Chris Kelly on 2 odd-man breaks. THAT'S solid defence: positioning and gap control. MAB would've panicked and had a seizure in that situation.

need someone to rip Neil a new one for his two big hits...Roy, anyone?

I think it might be because Stortini might take a few stupid Penelties and give the Sens PP, which in turn could cost us goals and the game, while Winnie might not hit or fight as much, he is much more reliable IMO in those aspects of the game....JMO..

We'll never be mistaken for the 2nd coming of the Broad Street Bullies but Ottawa is very far from a soft club now. Those days are long gone and the soft Sens concept is a myth. At one point in time Fisher, Volchenkov, and Neil were all in the top 10 in hits.

And just for Don Cherry, we only have 5 Euros on our roster. One is goaltender Martin Gerber. One is also the league leader in blocked shots who hits like a train (Volchenkov). Schubert is among our hardest and meanest forecheckers and I wouldn't call Alfie or Meszaros "soft".

How in the world was that not a (holding/hooking) penalty on Smyth.

and another brilliant move by Craig MacCrapass...no Stortini or Greene, and Juice is getting fricking hammered with extra stick whacks after a save.

MacT should tell Raffi if he doens't have a hit on each shift in the first 3, he's sitting. He's only into a game and effective when he's physically imposing.

Not really, Stortini doesn't take stupid penalties, well not in the 8 games or so I've seen him play.

I watched a lot of sens games this year, and yeah, you have some tough guys, but your team can still be pushed around just like in the psat. Correct me if i'm wrong, but hasn't Neil/Fisher been on the team for the past several years even when the leafs pushed 'em around? Losing Chara hurt

Eitherw ay, it's a non-issue tonight, cuz we don't have the dogs to do it.

ON another note, Jussi is playing great!

Redden hasn't been on the ice since the sandwich.

At this point, Joffrey Lupul has less finish than Jarret Stoll's headboard
