I used to hate Avery (as a hockey player, that is), mostly based on what I heard, and just because I don't like people who hurt their team by being irresponsible. But man, I have to admit, he is a breath of fresh air. At this time, I have to raise a toast to Sather for bringing in a genuine hockey player.
just for that comment and what avery did.....i am changing my hollweg jersey...and i am now buying a avery jersey
Wow, Avery sure did show Marty something. He got himself in the penalty box for 4 minutes, put the Devils on the PP, got the Devils hatred for him up a bit, and his team still lost the game. I find it funny that Avery thinks he can actually get into Marty's head.
I have a feeling that nothing out of the ordinary is going to happen on Thursday. Every point these two teams can get is important at this point, they can't afford to settle scores right now. Janssen may have a talk with Avery at some point, but I don't think he'll be running Lundqvist or doing anything stupid. I just hope the game is as exciting as the last couple have been.
As a long time NYR fan there have been far too few Averys on our rosters over the years. Hockey is still a physical game no matter how much badman and his cronies try to make it the NBA on ice. We need more abrasive players, especially on the backline.
Does this thread also double as the "Countdown to When Avery ****s Up and Pisses Us All Off" thread?

"AVERY'S BETTER", who ever thought of that, kick *** chant!! "AVERY'S BETTER"
As far as i know, i did. I brought up the idea in another thread(Those attending thursdays game). I'm sure someone else thought of the idea, but since i havent heard it at the garden, not sure anyone can coin it. There's definately an Avery mancrush though..
Now, I love Avery. But the pushup act is stupid, celebrate with your teammates not the ice.
It was a one time deal to spit in the face of head coach Andy Murray who had just been removed from his position. Thanks for Ward (he's already left us), and Cliche'. He'll never be a diamond like Avery. I miss him already and am happy he's keeping you all happy. Some guy here in LA made shirts celebrating Avery. They're sick, but I won't be needing mine anymore
Also, yes, Avery gets under the skin and in the minds of the players. But if you watch him play, it's not like he running around pissing everybody off and that's it. He gets a lot of cheap shots and legal hard hits for what he does. He pays the price for his actions, but he knows that is what's needed.
