Note to Ales Hemsky...

stop shooting high glove side in the shootouts... it hasn't worked since last year.

They know where you are going.

Yep.

His shot isn't nearly accurate enough to pick that top corner consistently.

And goalies know what he's going to do.

I'd suggest a deke. He loves deking everywhere else on the ice, so why not in the SO?

He isn't very smart at times. It's the coaches fault.

Mac-T should keep notes of the shoot-outs and tell Hemmer what hasn't been working

Did you miss out on the memo? Players are only responsible when something positive happens. Anything negative is simply the fault of the coaching staff...

Remember that wide sweeping deke move Hemmer did early on last year. I liked that one but you never see it anymore, it really got the goalies moving and jittery.

I think the issue is that Hemsky is actually shooting more but that hasn't resulted in the massive development of his game that we were all hoping for. His shot just simply isn't good enough at this point to match his other skills. If he works at it and develops more accuracy with his shot, things might get better.

Either that or we'll just have to find another Brett Hull to his Adam Oates.

high on glove side are for sissies.
Go for the triple deke...or even better, go with the triple deke vs. Iceland...skate, deke three times...stop 15 feet from the goal, and fire a slapshot.

Except when Zetterberg hit the post on Roli and Torres scored a bit later on?

I can't believe that one didn't go in. There really wasn't that much room to miss.

IIRC the Wings had another shooter narrowly miss in the same SO.

Hemsky and sykora both moved in too slow. Gave the goalies time to adjust. On the Othr hand Dino notices Jussi not set yet and buries it! go figure

But one question. When Hemsky was circling the net on the first go round why on earth did he not smell empty net blood on that play? If he would've moved FAST around the net instead of his typical Hemskian sweep it was an easy goal.

He was too busy looking for a pass to note that the best scoring chance was elapsing...

The instinct for goals just isn't there and no play more typically illustrates why he's stuck at 9.

In the same token, we tied the game up because of him holding onto the puck and looking for the pass.

Just sayin'

An Oiler and sen went flying into his path... there was no way he was going to be able to get around the net any quicker without getting smashed into.

I wasn't expecting it to go 45 shooters deep... I figured 5 shooters max and I could go...

Didn't happen.

I dont know how anyone could argue this statement...

The Shootout was the least exciting part of this hockey game, and almost any other hockey game it is in. I go from the edge of my seat in the 3rd period and OT, with my heart racing and adrenaline flowing, and as soon as the shootout starts, I feel nothing. Its like watching someone putt on the 3rd hole on thursday of a pro-am golf tournament.
