Doesn't DC still own the land that the building is on anyway? If so then this really doesn't change anything at all. The Caps/Wiz had better be out of there by '47.
EDIT: Uh oh, I don't like this part:
Under the proposal, the city would issue the bonds, which would be repaid by a 4.25 percentage-point increase in the tax on tickets and merchandise at Verizon Center. The current tax at the arena is 5.75 percent, so the legislation would push the tax to 10 percent.
But the scoreboard improvement is good news. That thing looks seriously out of date now.
